I also remember “Strive for Five”. Now it’s still Strive for 5. Out of 10.

At least I'm fairly confident Delta isn't going to fight me about reimbursements for car rental, gas, parking, and other expenses after they cancelled my flight and have no way to get me to my destination for days ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

edit: looks like 9E is bearing the brunt of the meltdown. already up to 20% cx on the day.

Chat is beyond useless - tried that for something else before the cancellation, and got nowhere after being transferred to another dept and told wait time was 35 min, then 95 min and nothing happened.
If you can stomach the risk, I ran into this issue a while back when my flight was canceled and the lines in the airport or wait times on the phone were hours long. Delta had automatically rebooked me on connecting flights on United fo the following day, but I saw one FC class nonstop ticket on Delta pop up for the following day that I would rather take (my original booking was also FC). Knowing this ticket would disappear imminently, I went ahead and bought it.

When I finally had an agent call me back hours later, I had the agent cancel the United flight on which Delta had rebooked be, but he told me to wait to sort out my new ticket that I'd bought until after I'd taken the flight. He was worried that if he tried to touch it, so that he could refund my purchase, he'd have to make it public again for a second, and then it would disappear.

Sure enough, once I took the flight, I called in, and Delta credited me the price of the new ticket (they didn't refund the cost of the new ticket, they just gave me a credit for the same amount from my initial fare).

I'm Diamond, which I'm sure didn't hurt my situation, but I couldn't imagine a scenario wherein Delta would argue that a FC nonstop ticket the following day wasn't a fair solution for the flight they'd canceled the previous day on which I'd also had a FC nonstop ticket.

Delta+Endeavor about to pass 400 cancels just today. Yikes.

SkyWest still in the running for a 100% completion factor Friday. Bravo to them.

Like most weeks, I had 4 flights this week. 3 of 4 had NO AIR CONDITIONING

The realiability issues are exacerbated by less options and poor handling during IROPS. In the old days, if you misconnected, you scanned your BP, got a new BP for the next flight, and went to the SkyClub for a couple hours. Now if you misconnect there are no options, and no attempt to reaccomdate you even if there are.

I’m fine with delays

I understand staff shortages

There’s no. excuse for lying.

If it’s 2:45 and you have an oversold B767-300 you have not started boarding you won’t depart at 3

(and no for those keeping track they are not doing PBD. &#128514

and you may not be let in to said SkyClub if your new flight is in more than 3 hours !!

does any one know if exceptions are made to the new policy in IRROP circumstances such as this ?!

DL claims that there are exceptions if your flight is delayed. I would assume this means if your *original* flight is delayed, and that they don't count from the scheduled departure for the new flight to which you have been rebooked.

Lately here in ATL I've seen a shortage, or poor scheduling, of gate agents.

For instance, today, I'm on a flight supposed to start boarding at 4:05 eastern and a single gate agent showed up at 3:55. The full crew has been waiting for a bit to get checked, and then there's a good 15-20 people waiting to talk to the GA. Not to mention that the crew is now late starting their safety checks.

No way we're boarding on time. I'm used to having to wait for crew, but lately it's been waiting for GAs.

Total meltdown today in NYC - but mainly for Delta. This is not ATC or thunderstorms. At one point, DL asked the FAA to institute a ground stop for all inbound DL flights. Between DL and 9E, they have had a massive failure today: https://flightaware.com/live/cancelled/today

And of course, it is now spilling over into tomorrow. My 6AM flight already cxld. No protection ALL DAY out of any NY airport to MSP on DL except for (maybe) a connection via BTV which sounds about as likely to not operate as anything else.

Delta has gone to hell.

It is not an exception to the new policy...it is a part of the policy. The policy is:
"guests will be able to access Delta Sky Clubs anytime within 3 hours of their scheduled departure time"

To the extent it is unclear what "scheduled departure time" means, the site explains:

What if my flight is delayed?
Flight delays or interruptions will have no impact on Club access, as long as customers enter the Club within three hours of their originally scheduled departure time.

Do people really want to spend 5 hours in a SkyClub? Or just say 'screw it' and go back home/back to city like I did on Monday?
I don't get why people think arriving at 4am is a big win, when you can just extend a stay and try to deal with $$ later on.

It’s been a day from hell for me on Delta…just trying to get from LGA to ATL.
my first flight DL 2638 was delayed almost 4.5 hours, so I was rebooked on the next flight DL 529 .
but this flight ultimately got cancelled, and now I can’t get back to ATL until tomorrow afternoon.
I saw seats open up on flights later today, but I was on hold so long that those seats vaporized in front of my face.
this kind of operational UNreliability and total disregard for service recovery at the DL Sky Club and the Need Help service center has got me fuming in a way I’ve never felt about DL before.
completely unacceptable!!

I am learning that if I see a seat open up I need to quickly buy it and claim an ecredit from Delta later.
