LAX Luggage Meltdown on Sunday

Sunday at around 11 am the line to drop self tagged bags was out the door in Terminal 3, out of 4 machines to get the luggage tags 2 were out of paper and one didn't work, the security breach alarm kept going off, just mayhem. After we finally boarded the captain announced that we would be delayed because 80 pieces of luggage hadn't been loaded yet. After another 25 minutes he said we were still missing 40. He didn't say, but it looks like that at some point he had enough and decided to take off. On arrival in MSP it took about 35 min for the first luggage to appear on the belt, but a lot of people had received notifications that their luggage was delayed. One woman who was on a business trip to St Cloud apparently was told that was too far to deliver, she should come pick up her luggage.

Maybe we need a general meltdown thread here, or maybe that is just the new normal.

I think a general thread might be best. Kind of tiring to keep reading about each new meltdown. Staffing is short (pretty much in all industries), new hires don't know the ins and outs of things and it will be a summer of weather (likely). It will be a summer of meltdowns.

At least get your 2500 miles, even if it's 1 minute late from the time the boarding door opens: https://www.delta.com/bags/bagsClaimAutomation.action
