How to get different operating carrier's PNR?

It's been a while since I booked a DL flight operated by another carrier. However I just did so and then went to message DL's Twitter account to get the PNR on the operating carrier (WestJet). Back in the day this usually took under one minute.

I guess I'm not current on DL's ways anymore because the Twitter account directed me to a chat within the DL app. OK no problem. Except the agents are incompetent and don't know how to get me the WestJet PNR. They also don't know how to do anything else. And each response takes 10+ minutes before they tell me they don't know what they're doing.

I want to choose my seats and have to do this with WestJet on their site using their PNR. What's the (new) best way to do that?

Thanks!

I do this all the time. I simply call Westjet and they tell me. While on the phone they assign me good seats based on my status. You need their pnr to check in.

I recently used messaged Delta on my mobile phone and the agent seemed incompetent and not entirely honest in their interactions with me. I requested my WestJet PNR so that I could change my seat and (later) check in on their website. Agent asked for a few minutes to look up this info, and when they didn't respond for awhile (~20 mins), I asked them if they were still with me. They returned without this information and, worse, they seemed to stall and avoid providing the information that I was seeking. Eventually, the agent provided a fabricated PNR that was clearly not valid and then tried to end the conversation. I told them that this was an invalid PNR because it didn't work on the WestJet website. They requested more time to look into this info. At this point, I requested to be connected to a supervisor because I felt that this agent was either incompetent or not being entirely truthful with me. Suddenly, in response to my request to connect with a supervisor, the agent finally gave me the correct info. This entire interaction took much longer than was necessary. Had I actually believed this agent when they gave the incorrect information, I would've had to re-enter the long queue on Delta Messaging just to get the correct info that I was initially seeking.

I complained on DL.com and also included screenshots and name of the agent. It's one thing not to know what you're doing; it's another to brazenly lie and create a random PNR (it was like 8 random letters--it should be 6).

Try putting your info into pnr.sh. There should be an OA_REC_LOC flag. If you see that, the OA pnr is probably the last 6 digits of the first set of characters before the first /.

If you try to select your seats on Delta's website you'll be directed to a Westjet page with the Westjet PNR in the URL.

Use pnr.sh. It’s there. (The Delta chat agents are too dumb or lazy to give you what is glaringly obvious and right in front of them. Pnr.sh shows you what the DL agents see.)

I don't see it in pnr.sh, but I did finally get it from Delta. Thanks for the suggestions all.

Clearly, Delta is trying to devalue pnr.sh... I also don't see OA_REC_LOC flag in my one test reservation anymore, however for those interested I still see an SSR available under the first passenger which contains the OA PNR:

ACKN /1AXXXXXX22FEB0228Z$
Where XXXXXX is the AF PNR in my test.

This also was true of the PNR I was just trying to look up, although it doesn't really matter since the AF/KL app/site seem able to look up reservations using DL PNRs anyway.

But the WS PNR was nowhere to be found on pnr.sh, unfortunately.
