I think this is acceptable. I've grounded myself for the last few months but remember things picking up, fuller flights back in March my last flight. Although it was on AM and not DL. Crew need to get full ac boarded and wheels up as fast as possible.

IMO it makes sense for particularly short flights, where two drinks (PDB and in air) would be a bit much, but taking orders early expedites service during the flight. On longer flights, taking orders shouldn't be viewed as a substitute for offering PDBs.

A bit much for who? I dont believe the boarding time is shortened for the shorter flights so theres absolutely no reason a PDB shouldnt be provided once that becomes the policy again. If there are delays and the boarding is rushed, sure skip it, but if things are on schedule? No the FA should follow policy and provide a PDB.
