Checking in a set of seats

To preface this, I assume that the answer to this question is going to be no, but I figured I'd ask anyways. I am planning on going to Delta's surplus sale next week in ATL and will be flying on DL metal to and from it. I would really like to purchase a set of old seats (either 1 set of 3 economy or 1 set of 2 domestic first class), but am quite concerned about getting them home. I assume there is no way I'd ever get Delta to let me check them in as oversized/overweight baggage, correct? If that is indeed the case is there any way that I'd be able to send them via Delta Dash/Cargo? I'd really prefer not sending them by a freight carrier such as FedEx.

Thanks!

No way in hades they'd let you check it but I've been wrong a lot before. I could be wrong again, but the size, weight and shape would be a big veto. You're going to be paying out the rear end for air cargo for the aforementioned reasons. All of my experience with Delta's air cargo operations have been documents or packages no bigger than a shoebox, so take this with a grain of salt; but I think you're going to have to factor in packaging it (at least shrink-wrapping) and possibly palletizing.

Since you're in CMH, I'd recommend giving R&L Carriers a call for a pick up the air cargo terminal to either your house directly or to their hub near ILN. You'll probably pay about 1/10th.

No. Not at all as baggage.

Cargo requires using an approved cargo shipper. Not going to be cheap.

Rent a small truck from U-Haul or similar company and drive home?

That was my original plan, but unfortunately due to time restraints it is not possible. I did however find out that a friend might be in Atlanta that weekend with a truck heading up north. Hopefully that works out and I can pay for some space in his truck. Otherwise it seems that my only option is to pay the ~1k for freight which I likely wouldn't do.
