And of course, despite it being "the most ridiculous thing said on FT today" all of the options on your screen have Y space on each segment but it is being suppressed by married segment control (presumably to get much higher-yield nonstop Y fares). The one they deign to sell in Y has at least M space on every segment.
But indeed leaving LAS seems to be the bottleneck: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2386bfef1b.png ed. to add, also ITA is in general much better about finding solutions with fare breaks: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...13fde7bf59.png https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...982137176d.png |
Something else to consider is that Southwest announced it was cutting it's June schedule by 6.9% (8250 flights) a little over a week ago due to staffing issues. The cutbacks are likely also impacting availability on other carriers with the diminished capacity on Southwest. People on the United forum are also noting the high fares -- https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unit...-ua-fares.html

This pretty much says everything. June 8th is a particularly bad day for availability on LAS-ATL flights. Once you exhaust non-stop LAS-ATL options and have to start using double-connects to get to BMI (as the only flights are through ATL), it's not surprising there is only Y inventory open. High demand (possibly due to some event) and booking too close in.
