I am with OP on this. People with non-vomitous suitcases should not throw stones. (Or, is it: Before you judge a person, walk a mile in their vomit soaked clothing.)
Not sure my post would be more measured if I saw my bag coming toward me on the carousel covered in vomit and opened the bag to find more of the same. I imagine that even if just a bit of vomit entered the bag, all of the contents could well be quite putrid by the time you open the bag.
To the person who doubted that vomit could soak into a bag, I once changed planes at LHR (where it was raining), my bags misconnected and, when they arrived, had very wet contents. So, I assure you that modern luggage is not waterproof.

If truly wasn't a redcoat or manager/supervisor on duty then airport has major issue.

Isn't it sufficient that the CRO is available by phone? I thought that was the rule for accessibility issues.

I had a bag once come rolling off my flight from SEA soaked in fishy liquid. Some idiot checked a box of fish on (regular) ice and it leaked all over (was in the belt next to my bag). my bag was disgusting. Delta replaced it, no questions.

The OP isn't being dramatic at all. I wouldn't keep anything that got covered in my own vomit let alone anyone else's. I would never be able to use it again no matter how many times it was cleaned.

What do you think dramatic means? We're talking about items inside a suitcase. I advocated a new suitcase. I'd guess not everything inside the case was destroyed. But I think we've explored (lived through) this enough, for people who weren't even there, and didn't even see photos (destroyed luggage porn).

Then ATL has a major issue. On 3/31/2022, a Red Coat was never called. I waited 37 minutes (until D-15) in E-concourse for Red Coat prior to an international flight. Blame the gate agent for ignoring, stalling, or refusing.
Who is going to do something about this? No one.

Redcoat could be over on F and thus take forever to get over to E. Etc...
If you were asking for CRO, need file a complaint. 15 minutes starts from when you make request to any airline employee/wheelchair agent.

The fabric used for luggage is a coated nylon which holds up quite well from most liquids. Where it does not is where it is stitched which act like wick. That said, having had a duffle bag thoroughly soaked in mule piss, I can say from first hand experience that though disgusting and smelly any impacted clothing can be washed. Further the bags can be washed, use a bio enzymatic cleaner.

If it were me and I wanted to keep the bag, I'd try a dry cleaners. My wife has a funny story about a dry cleaner near a conference hotel in Dallas many years ago: "We specialize in all kinds of blood stains."
