I flew PS recently, FLL-DTW-ICN
I believe it was about a 30% upcharge for PS and priority boarding/seat/seat pitch make it worth it for me. But the domestic FLL-DTW leg was a C+ seat, no PS section it seems on domestic. C+ is effectively an economy seat with priority boarding and first dibs on the overhead. I can feel the difference in my middle back between an economy seat and domestic First / international PS. Continuing with the economy part, with C+ you still get the seatback-in-your-face if you get that passenger who thinks they can lie flat in economy, which also prevents using a tablet on your tray table. C+ service is good, just that there are more people for the same number of FAs. Food is ok. The DTW-ICN leg was a markedly improved PS seat on an A350. The footrest made more of a difference than expected, more space between the hips, the seat pitch is excellent, the service is just as good, simply more often .... and the food is better. I was right-aisle, middle of the plane and my row-mate was left-aisle. No one sat in the two middle seats. I basically had a first class seat without the lie-flat lol Is two seats/screens/tray tables better than having one first class seat? :D https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...102d29788.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8c9432207.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...70b946c09.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...bd2397170.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...49f0d9e0e.jpeg Is two seats/screens/tray tables better than a first class seat? https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9d5e0a8ee.jpeg Is two seats/screens/tray tables better than a first class seat? |

How do you upgrade to PS (offered made to you at OCLI or at the airport?), and is it only possible from C+ and not from regular Y?

A week ago, I posted of my PS experience on DL 142 (SEA-AMS) on October 12. Well, I thought I'd come back here and post about my return flight in PS on DL143 (AMS-SEA) on October 13. I was in seat 20J (bulkhead window). Now having completed a round trip in PS, I'm keen on the experience and would do it again. So much better than the misery of Economy, but doesn't break the bank like business class. My only disappointment is the meal service; the meals do not seem "select" at all, especially the second (pre-arrival) "meal". The only thing distinguishing them from meal service in Economy is that they serve them on a weird-shaped plate with silverware. I seem to remember that when PS was first launched, Delta was making a big thing about the meal service, describing it in terms that implied it would be almost on par with D1 meal service. I guess that didn't last.
Also, on this flight, my video screen suddenly went black in the middle of binge watching several episodes of "The Office". A FA tried resetting my system twice, but without success. AT that point, there were only 90 minutes left in the flight, so it did not much matter; my ears were getting sore anyway. I suppose I could make a claim for some mileage reimbursement but I don't know; it sems kind of petty to do so. But, to me, the vastly vastly vastly most important element of long haul flying is seat comfort and spaciousness. I'm not going out to dinner; I'm trying to get from A to B in reasonable comfort. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a4eecdc8b6.jpg Main meal service in PS on DL 143, AMS-SEA, shortly after takeoff, Oct. 19, 2022 https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c02c99ec9a.jpg Pre-arrival lunch in PS on DL 143, AMS-SEA, Oct. 19, 2022 |
I just don't understand what is in the way of at least using the actual plates they had previously used for PS. Is it a dishwashing staff issue? And yes, the meals are not acceptable. The seats are not that cheap, and that they used to offer two of the D1 main meal options was a very nice touch.

PS is way too expensive to be worth the cash price but the points redemption prices seem very close to C+ which makes sense

I have a $249 TATL offer again that I am thinking about taking. It's westbound from EU so it should be slightly longer and I should be awake nearly the entire time.
Do they still have the snacks in the galley? Kind of a low bar, I know. |

The food items don't ever fit nicely on them - it just seems clunky. |

Mrs. ND76 and I just booked VS Premium CLE-BOS-LHR-BOS-CLE for $1,385.00 PP, leaving at the end of November and returning a week later. The cheapest coach ticket was $745.00 each, meaning that the upgrade was $320 each way PP. I think this is totally worth it, as the seat width, pitch and overall comfort is akin to a domestic F seat on Delta. I'm looking forward to seeing the improvements at Delta in BOS, including the reopened SkyClub in the main part of Terminal A, the airside shuttle bus over to Terminal E, the Delta SkyClub Express in E and the Virgin Clubhouse in E (I understand they are adjacent to each other).

I have even asked a few FAs (not just on yesterday’s flight) and they all confirmed that the PS main courses are two of the D1 ones. I don’t know why people keep saying they’re the same as Main Cabin meals, maybe because it’s also chicken or pasta.. The pre-arrival meal in PS however are the same as in Y. |
Last week we flew MAD-ATL in PS and it was definitely the same as main on that flight. Perhaps it is destination/origin dépendant much like the sad box last time I flew to ABQ in domestic F last month.

The PS main course choices currently ARE two of the D1 options. I was just on ZRH-JFK in D1 but saw the PS menu hanging in the galley between the D1 and PS cabins and the choices were indeed the same chicken and pasta options as in D1: chicken thigh stuffed with chestnuts Or the “smoked burrata tortello” pasta.

Are amenity kits not back yet? I’m currently on DL204 in PS JFK-ARN and was just handed a main cabin travel kit. The website and even the printed menu mentions one.
