How does that work? Is it your same reservation, just switched to a Virgin plane?
Still under the same confirmation number. |
Delta’s PS pricing is delusional as I’m seeing fares above $3,000, closer to over $4k to Europe this fall. In the past AF PE would be around $2k. I’m not surprised with 20 PS seats are available for my ATL-FCO on a A359 this weekend for a coach level experience. United is pricing at $2k for Premium Plus with a larger J cabin to upgrade into using Plus Points, as Delta has been reducing the size of D1 for PS as we all know—not wanting to give away the D1 seats using a upgrade instrument.

This thread is fascinating and I'm glad I read all the way through it. I've been thinking about flying PS a few times next year just to help the vacation budget - or flying UA's Polaris which is usually priced right between PS and D1. After reading this it might be worth throwing UA a little business.

You are being pretty selective here. There are routes from $1000 roundtrip in PS for G fares in fall from more competitive markets (hint: ATL is not competitive for DL) like WAS-AMS. It's rare to find anything decent close-in due to AP requirements on cheaper fares even on mostly empty flights.

I was able to find fares in January on a multi-city trip for just under $1,300 in PS. Economy was only about $250 less.

Did you follow through to see what time the $1,772 fare arrives on the day of return, as I have been seeing arriving the following day for the Delta PS at the $1,700 fare range? Otherwise the fare was mid $3,000 for September travel for same day return. For example I'm traveling to Florence Italy September 2022, booking PS on Delta was $3,300. However, booking Premium Economy via AmEx IAP was $1,700 on Star Alliance with a $300 credit card statement with a AmEx promo, so net $1,400. The TATL flight is on Swiss PE. https://www.swiss.com/us/en/fly/on-b...remium-economy. I'm United 1K, and I have found that that UA upgrades have been a lot easier than DL upgrades this year as a DM.

ATL-LHR experience
Family of 4 flew from ATL to LHR June 30. We had a good experience after having expectations set correctly from this thread. We booked using miles 10 months ago and felt we got a steal at 108k for flying in to LHR and then out of MUC tomorrow.
Seats were roomy. Decline was ok. We got about 2-3 hours of sleep. Food tasted excellent even though it was not presented as it used to be. I ordered a gluten-free meal which was GF meatballs with polenta, cucumber and tomato salad, fruit (dessert) and a roll. It was excellent! Rest of the family had a choice between a chicken, veggies, and mashed potatoes meal or ravioli. All 3 chose the chicken and enjoyed it. Lemon brownie was their dessert. Pics I took can't be used here unfortunately. I don't even remember what the breakfast was. I'll post again after tomorrow's flight. |

Was the food the same as the main cabin, or was it something different? Your flight tomorrow is TO (not from) MUC, right? |

As Delta previously said, the PS enhancement that occurred this year was an enhancement to the economy cabin
DL for some reason, now considers PS to be economy. But if they can get people to pay 2X extra for a larger economy seat, more power to them |

Delta and from Munich to ATL. We've been in Europe for 2.5 weeks. I'm assuming food was same as main cabin since it wasn't the same as One. I didn't check. I posted more to confirm that the Delta product to Europe still isn't a stepped-down business like pre-covid but more of a slight improvement to economy since that's what I had been reading the thread to learn. The food tasting good was a nice benefit.
I'm posting these details for those searching for what a gluten free passenger will receive to and from Europe. A search on gluten free doesn't have a lot of info in the last couple of years. |
