Same 4 DL350's going to SYD?
Hey everyone,
Ever since Delta switched their DL41/40 service to an A350 they've been flying the same rotation of planes. Those are: 3505, 3508, 3511, and 3513. Going back through the history, every single SYD flight has been operated by one of the frames listed above. Does anyone know why? I've been following the Qantas long haul fleet for many years but have just recently gotten into Delta and have never seen anything like this for a widebody fleet.

Delta has a handful of improved 359s with different wingtips and improved range/efficiency. I wouldn't be surprised if it's these specific aircraft that fly to SYD and JNB and rotate through via ATL-LAX.
I can't immediately find the tail numbers for these improved aircraft, so I'm not 100% sure.

Thank you, makes sense. But, the the SYD planes I mentioned above never go to JNB. 3514 and 3515 are the only ones that go down there. So if I know that 3505, 3508, 3511, 3513 (SYD) and 3514, 3515 (JNB) all have these higher efficiency mods why would they not just pool those 6 frames together and have them operate both SYD and JNB? Incredibly interesting how this all works out.
