First time using RUCs
I'm booking a flight to the Caribbean (through Atlanta) and want to use my RUCs for my flight. I'm flying out of a small regional airport and want to make sure Delta applies my RUC for the full trip and I don't get stuck only getting upgraded on my flight from the regional airport to Atlanta. How do I ensure my RUC clears the full trip?

You will likely run into availability issues and will have to waitlist. Best way is to waitlist the long haul flights and if they clear, they go back and confirm or waitlist the flights in and out of the regional airport

When you call in to apply the cert make sure the agent waitlists you ONLY for the long segment. Do NOT waitlist the shorter segment.
Check DL.dum and look for "First available with Upgrade Certificate". If so then you can confirm both segments with your RUC when you call. If it says "First available with Global Upgrade Certificate" then you'll have to waitlist with a RUC. Cross your fingers....it's looking like a very rough second half of '22 for upgrades on longer flights for PM's - even with those using RUCs. |
