hot dog today, ice cream on Sun, bourbon a couple weeks ago ... who the heck declares this stuff, some random poster on Reddit or BuzzFeed? if not, how does a food or beverage marketing association get on the list? and what's next, National Dill Pickle Day?

Mmm, the concept sounds interesting but I think I'll pass. It sounds like a lot of work when we could just be sitting and drinking

National Curmudgeons Day is January 29th
 But yes, it's kinda ridiculous.

It is possible to buy calendars with one special (national or international) day indicated for every day of the year. Some of the federal holidays and semi-holidays seem to be presidential or congressional declaration (MLK Day, children's day, grandparents' day, Presidents' Day to replace Washington and Lincoln birthdays, etc.). An administrative assistant in my office had one and would post a "today is....." sign on her door for fun.

Who declares special months (Black History Month, etc.)? Is a month better or worse than a day and does the answer depend on whether the day is a Monday holiday?

BTW, speaking of food, has anyone else noticed from the TV ad distinctive voice that the same guy who does the Chewy (medications in peanut butter, so it's peanut butter day when the delivery arrives) dog voices also reads as a human for DQ? Either ad makes me do a double take. Maybe that's the intent......I notice and pay attention to the ads enough to convince myself that it really is the same voice.

And according an issue of Life Magazine celebrating the inaugural National Pickle Week in 1949, this picklehead's real name was Mr. Dill Pickle:
