Good grief. Impossible products are not that bad and honestly give many more flyers an option over "pasta." There are many worse things to consume: high amounts of alcohol/soda/sugars. If the impossible option isn't your favorite, pre-order a salad or something else.
And I'm sure this is entirely due to some really good deal Delta is getting from the company that produces this stuff. While I'm sure there are people that are asking delta for it, the amount that it's invaded the menu to me is disproportionate to what I'd expect the demand to be.

I think we all have a strong interest in real food over the manufactured kind, as much as possible. There is no shortage of soylent green.

I would not call an impossible burger "wholesome" or "interesting" even if you sprinkle feta cheese on it. It is a highly processed oil-filled patty that contains a generous 40% DV of saturated fat.
I for sure think they are trying too hard. I love eating healthy, organic, vegetable-forward, etc, but when it's done poorly it's so gross. If they are not actually going to invest in doing the food well, I really think they need to offer some simple dishes that are harder to mess up (like vegetarian pasta, for example).

Honestly, the point of my original message was simple: Delta has stepped up their food game considerably when compared to pre-covid offerings in domestic FC... Desserts were pre-packaged dancing deer cookies, side salads were uninspiring, sometimes they gave you that hard, plastic wrapped bread stick thing... I'll take today's catering.

Packed cookie and some chickpeas. WOOOOOOO what a step up.

My issue with the impossible nonsense is that it's largely supplanting the only real meat option on the menu in many menus. Like you often seen fish, impossible, and pasta. Where before it might have been fish, meat, and pasta. I'm not convinced there's that many vegetarians flying that now we need to remove the meat option for everyone else.
And I'm sure this is entirely due to some really good deal Delta is getting from the company that produces this stuff. While I'm sure there are people that are asking delta for it, the amount that it's invaded the menu to me is disproportionate to what I'd expect the demand to be.

and again, I say that as someone who doesn't mind the impossible stuff (meatballs more so than the burger)

Detroit to Tampa Dinner
This is the house made ricotta cappellacci pasta with asparagus and mushroom sauce. If you like mushrooms, you'll like this. Great service and nice meal on this flight. This was on July 18.

Flew JFK-SFO and back in D1 recently. The food quality, and amount of differentiation from F, had been on a long downhill slide for years prior to COVID, but I hadn't realized until I got the poke bowl on the return, and recognized the exact same meal from a recent midcon F filght, that there is no longer any differentiation in meal quality between F and D1.
In general, pretty lousy state of domestic premium cabin meals these days ... and is it just me or does everything seem to come with a little container of some sort of dressing/sauce where it's frequently unclear what it is supposed to go on?
JFK-SFO dinner, Delta One, pre-order only meal option of a Warm Turkey Melt (with a little card saying it was from Union Square Hospitality, and speaking of Delta food options that have gone downhill, when that partnership started there were some truly excellent meals, but nowadays ... if I was a brand manager at USQ I would be trying to get out of that contract ASAP...)

SFO-JFK lunch, Delta One, poke bowl

for now, domestic D1 only gets Skyclub (if it’s not full…ha!); cheap, itchy bedding, and an occasional amenity kit as a differentiator. But sure, enjoy your $1000+ premium.

Makes me start quoting the South Park episode about the Goo Man. Looks like he has gotten to Delta.

D1 ATL-AMS August 2022--Any pics of Charred Lamb Chops or Poached GA Coastal Shrimp?
Just realized first time since late 2019 traveling intercontinental with the kids next week that kids meals are gone (our girls were probably only D1 passengers who enjoyed the chicken nuggets anyway!). I've had the first 3, but haven't seen reviews/pics of the Charred Lamb Chops (several reviews of the lamb shank; but didn't see any of "charred lamb chops") or Poached Georgia Coastal Shrimp---anyone had these last two or have a pic they could share?

I have had the Charred Lamb Chops and they were good, a little overcooked for my liking but it is an aircraft, so I can deal with that.
With that said the taste was good and the portion was filling, my wife had the Poached Shrimp and liked them, she said she was not sure she could detect a difference between Georgia Costal Shrimp and the Shrimp we get at Costco in TX. (except for the size the Costco Shrimp at larger), but she enjoyed the dish.

back on topic, I'd be worried about shrimp on a plane. They turn into rubber bands really really really quickly.
