Current 2022 First Class meal service status -- [NOTE - all D1 flights, domestic and international, receive hot meal service]. FC meal service consists of plated meals (including hot options) between hubs and to/from most larger stations (exception stations listed below only receive cold meal box options) on flights over 900 miles which depart before 9PM (scheduled). Pre-selection is available on routes with plated meal offerings, while it is not available on cold meal box routes. In addition, flights over 2300 miles will receive meal service in FC for departures after 9PM. Snack boxes are generally offered on redeye flights under 2300 miles. Meal service is not provided on flights under 900 miles.
Current exception stations where only cold meal boxes (with no pre-selection) are offered in FC on 900+ mile flights (both to and from station):
ABQ, AUA, EGE, ELP, EYW, GEG, IAD, JAC, MCI, OAK, PLS, PSC, PUJ, SAT, TUS, YYZ, YUL, YVR

Went back a few pages, Are routes over 500-899 miles snack boxes or just snacks? Doing LGA-MKE which is around 750 miles. (FC)

Again. Everyone wants to keep looking at pilots, that isn't remotely close to the only shortage in the industry. Fact of the matter is most people can make more money working at their local Target then they can working for the vendors airlines use, such as catering companies. More importantly they aren't worked nearly as hard as some of the airline vendors work their employees.
Till pay/benefits goes up and quality of life gets better these vendors will continue to have issues hiring people and more importantly keeping them, which is why some airlines have brought certain aspects of catering back in-house.

American has something like 800-900 flights a day out of Dallas, a huge amount that are meal flights and they can't figure it out either.

One of the best domestic F meals I have ever had on DL. Braised beef and potatoes and salad were amazing. Better than Delta one food I had last month.

It looks to me like the pre-order only choices depend on the departure airport (but not the destination, at least for TATL flights).
