Thanks for the further insight. Now you have me wondering about your comment "that if they can't do proper catering on the out AND back, then no one is getting it." Am I understanding that to mean that STT doesn't have a proper catering kitchen? I ask because even pre-COVID DL, UA, AA all had (and still have) 5+ hour flights from STT (DL STT-MSP, AA STT-ORD, UA STT-IAH). Did those flights not have hot meals in F then? Or does STT have a kitchen but they can't staff it? Just genuinely curious.
Its really hard to say.
Wait Delta has a hub at YUL? When did that happen?

Whether Goddard survived COVID-19 or if DL considers STT a priority I have truly have no idea.

If every box came with a voucher for 10,000 miles, MAYBE I'd cut them some slack... But as it stands, this is unacceptable at the current price point. The other argument is transparency. If the flight notes listed "Box Lunch," instead of "Lunch," and showed a picture of a boxed lunch instead of a plated meal with glassware, I'd also cut them some slack. Customers should be able to make informed purchasing decisions, anything less is fraudulent and deceitful marketing.

So unacceptable.

BOS-MIA April 26 2022, 120PM departure, 737-900ER. FEBO observed. I was in row 4 and all 3 choices were available when I was asked: 2 hot dishes (pasta or pastrami sandwich, served with salad and dessert), or cold smoked-salmon salad served with fresh fruit and dessert. I chose the smoked-salmon salad.
I really enjoyed this meal. As you can see from the picture, it was kind of Japanese-esque with cold rice, pickled ginger, radish, vegetable spirals, spinach, tomato, and what seemed more like guacamole than wasabi. There was a small cup of soy sauce. The fruit was flavorful and the dessert excellent. No glassware on this flight.

Flying LHR-BOS on 5/16 and got the select your meal email a few days ago.
Problem is whenever I tried to select something I got an error message.
Called this morning (8 am UK time) and went almost immediately to an agent who recognized me as a DM.
She managed to get the meal I wanted selected.
At least no hold time!

MCO-DTW 2 days ago. No PDB, FEBO not followed. Same three choices they've had for the last 2 months: Hot veggie plate (seriously?), Cold Chicken with paprika pineapple, and the horrid fake meat burger ( 500% more sodium than a real burger). I opted for a "glass" of wine only. It was served in an extremely flimsy plastic cup. Enough already, Eddie.

My this weeks flights on Delta were less then a good flight experience in F, compared to American Airlines. NO PDP, NO Hot Towels before lunch/dinner, mediocre food (had the Impossible Burger on my way down from DEN to ATL, the Short Rib from MCO to SLC) ATL-MCO flight attendant did not want to work and was Impossible, Flight Attendant DEN to ATL was more concerned about a show then service, Flight Attendant from MCO to SLC was snippy as can be, Flight Attendant SLC to DEN did her job but no smile. No name recognition, No Pillows or Blankets. Plus on all flights the seat were worn out to the max and one was sitting on wire.
American does so much better! I had to fly Delta cause of ReLo Package and I upgraded for like $1600 to the $630 they paid for Economy! NOT WORTH a cent!

The Beyond burger was pretty edible after I scraped off the cooked onions.
First time flying into SNA so that was also a bit of a treat!

DL has not brought back pre-flight meal selection on FC routes yet (except possibly some of the JFK/BOS transcon FC routes), so you can't use that to tell if a route will have hot meal options. It's difficult to say whether you will get a hot meal options or cold meal boxes on a route other than by searching this thread by airport code for previous meal reports to determine their catering situation. For example, ABQ, ELP, and TUS currently form a Bermuda triangle which all look to all be getting cold meal boxes from earlier reports.
