Current 2022 First Class meal service status -- [NOTE - all D1 flights, domestic and international, receive hot meal service]. Current FC meal service consists of cold meal boxes with the exception of JFK-SEA and BOS-SEA/SFO FC marketed flights which receive hot meal service. Some limited routes (seemingly hub-to-hub and certain high-profile routes also receiving plated meal service). This includes both domestic and international DL FC marketed flights. All flights over 900 miles which depart before 9PM (scheduled) receive meal service in FC. In addition, flights over 2300 miles will receive meal service in FC for departures after 9PM.

Delta confirmed in a press release that Hot Meals will return in March 2022

Not withstanding the official Delta press releases and what the itinerary shows for "meal", reviews have shown that the flights to or from the following airports continue to have sad boxes and no actual meals:
PHX*, IAD, DFW, EYW, AUA, AUS, OAK, ELP, ABQ, TUS
*Narrowbody flights only

Agreed. The images for the food service online are false advertising. Unacceptable.

What is the verdict on the Moroccan Chicken Stew on Delta One? Frankly the choices for a a long haul coast to coast flight between a chicken stew and impossible meat balls seems rather appalling. Hardly fitting to a coast to coast flight in a premium cabin. So which of the two is less horrible?

Pre-arrival burger. FT opinion on this seems somewhat love/hate, but I enjoyed the hell out of it as usual Only slight notes would be that the bottom bun came out slightly over, the lettuce isn't exactly classic burger lettuce fixings, and also the cheese tends to run onto the plate, so there's no real way to eat this without getting your hands messy, but the burger was substantial and it was delicious the potato salad was fantastic as well.
There is no way in hell I would try to eat that by hand on an airplane. Fork and knife, please!
Perhaps they should put it into one of those half cardboard holder and you can pick that up instead. Stuff falling out should be in the bottom of the holder.

BOS-AUS?

What should I expect for F dinner BOS-AUS in approx two weeks (1600+ miles)?

How do you think DL F currently compares to AA F for mid haul (approx 1500 miles), such as this BOS-Aus route where which they both fly?

* Wine

The "meat"balls are pretty good, and better than several gor-may sounding entrees I've had over the years.

the Moroccan stew is good as long as you are not quite hungry. Such a lite dish.

Olive oil poached red snapper with Beecher's clothbound cheddar dashi with mustard greens and local maitake and porcini mushrooms.

Thanks!

pathetic.
Unfortunately on some routes like this, where flights may not be catered at the destination, the flight has to be catered for both the outbound and return and the food quality suffers. Iím not saying thatís right, or the case here, but this was an issue even pre-Covid. I experienced this several times in F heading into PLS and the FAís always told me the catering to some of these vacation destinations suffered from poor food options.

Nearly 2000 miles with that ďmealĒ is ridiculous though.

IMO, the Impossible Meatballs is one of the best meals aloft these days domestically amongst all airlines!

DTW-FLL Reuben with cauliflower side, was pretty good. Desert was good when mixed with almonds

A MUCH better looking Reuben than that old soggy one on rye bread that they always served garnished on top of a piece of soggy lettuce 😂

"considering the length of the flight"? It's barely long enough to qualify for meal service at all!

IDK what the big deal with the boxes is, they're just as good if not better than a lot of the "real" meals DL serves. Yall act like the normal stuff is Spago or something.

Did you ever eat the boxed sandwich? It was honestly disgusting. I always opted for the salad or bowl, but even those started triggering my gag reflex mid flight. (Could've been the "bamboo wear")
