Thanks for those options. I'll see if I have enough miles for an upgrade.

Check aircraft types too. JFK-LIS might be a 757, with 3-3 seating in coach and C+. If there's PS, I'm not sure how many seats there are across (2-2 or 2-3?). Otherwise, it's likely to be a 767, with BCN-JFK possibly a 767 also. Note that the 767 is 2-3-2 in coach, therefore with very few middle seats and very nice of two are traveling together and can get a window-aisle pair.

Much also depends on the seats you have and what seats would be available if you buy the upgrade. I certainly wouldn't pay $300 to move from an aisle in regular coach to a middle C+ seat.

I just had a conversation with my partner about exit row seats and legroom. I'm 5'10" he's maybe 5'8". Anyway I checked and at least on the 767-300 in Main cabin the Exit row seats are uncomfortably close to the bathroom. Didn't check the 767-400 yet. Main cabin is still an option, because as you've said it's 2-3-2. But we may move up to Comfort Plus for the extra space, earlier boarding etc. We are going to look at this together over the weekend and maybe book something next week.

PS on a DL 757 is 2-2, operated by a 757-200 domestic configuration (20 F seats). What is the FC cabin when it operates domestically becomes the PS cabin when operating a TATL flight.

IIRC this would be the KEF flights.

KEF was one destination. I think flights to the Azores as well, and maybe some of the other short TATL flights out of BOS though I cannot recall of the top of my heads which ones.

Super DL newbie here. No status. We used Skymiles to book a mixed cabin award for 2 pax. One segment was completely sold out in domestic F, so the reservation shows "NH" for that segment and "OD" for the segment that had first class availability.

First class awards have now opened up for both segments, but it's at a higher price and in "OC" ... I figured I was probably out of luck since we had a mixed cabin award, but a phone rep says that our "NH" flight in the PNR shows a "segment status" of "standby" for first class. Departure is within 24 hours, and we don't appear in the upgrade list. Agent says that we would take priority over anyone on the "complimentary" upgrade list if the seats stay open at the gate.

Does that make any sense at all? Wondering if it's worth the gamble or if we just pay more to confirm into the available space. The agent says that reservations can't just "confirm" us into F in advance.

Thanks!

Follow-up to my post #76: maximum of 5 eCredits

Thank you to El Boocho for the reply at post #79.

I have now captured another Delta fare reduction to a future ticketed flight, and I now have 6 eCredits in my Skymiles profile.

Hi there! I'm Delta Plat and I have a question regarding status benefits for +1 on the same reservation from EU (BER) to US (MSP/DTW) in economy. Should we fly with Delta/KLM via AMS or with AF via PCG. For example, with KLM, +1 would have to pay for comfort seats, which is not the best option overall. Alternatively, I could transfer Amex point to all any program and upgrade to J. What would be your advise here? Thanks in advance!

P.S. Currently, I have a ticket with KLM on L/V, i.e. no basic economy, which due to some calcelation I'm eligable to change into any of the above.

Answering my own question.... It turned out the phone agent was correct! We didn't end up being upgraded, but on the day of travel, we showed up as #1 and #2 on the upgrade list.

As Delta Plat, given availability of Delta Comfort+ seats, would they be free of charge for +1 and me on the same reservation?

Assuming there is upgrade inventory, yes, you can upgrade yourself an a companion into C+ for free (however the companion must have a SkyMiles entered even if they are a general member without status)

I'm looking at booking a domestic DL flight in Z. If I choose to cancel, is the ticket 100% refundable to the original form of payment?

Thank you for your answer! I was not aware that the companion must have a SkyMiles account entered. I'd assume that FlyingBlue would not be enough either?

The cheapest Z fares are pretty much always non-refundable. DL has introduced whole range of refundable fare filings since Covid hit (they used to be far more limited with Z fares generally never being refundable as the lowest FC fare class). The upcharge from a non-refundable Z fare to a refundable Z fare for domestic F is typically $100 each way and will generally be presented to you as an upfare option at checkout if you are purchasing flights on delta.com (if you don't specifically limit your search to refundable fares).
