Hello Everyone,
Due to a merging error - much of the history of this thread is sitting in the Amex Companion fare thread:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta-air-lines-skymiles/2053727-using-skymiles-skyteam-other-partners-master-thread.html

The moderation team is in the process of moving posts over to this thread, however it is a very manual process that requires reading every post in the two merged mega threads, so please bear with us as we piece this together.

Saudia connection lately

Looking at an award ticket on Saudia on the way back from Africa in December. Any recent experiences transiting?

The uk travel advisory says transit is not permitted, but it seems unclear elsewhere...

I found lots of available East Coast (DC) to London starting Oct 24 through November for 32K RT + $200fees.
No quick mileage sales listed online.

It's not just east coast. Other large markets (CHI, LAX, SFO, etc) also have these awards. Less competitive markets somewhat higher. Fare basis code YSVR160 with roundtrip booking and Saturday night stay required. Some markets look to have 14-day advance purchase requirement on awards. 32K RT awards also available to MAD and BCN.

Seasonality restrictions from the award Fare Rules.

I saw where Thanksgiving and Christmas were excluded but I did not know MAD and BCN were included. That would be wonderful except my passport expires in 3 months and I can only do UK for now.

Can't seem to use DL Skymiles for domestic award flights in Mexico on Aeromexico. I tried different routes and different dates with the error message "We're sorry but no results were found for your search...". Seem odd that no award flights are available on Aeromexico

They're available just AM doesn't offer lots of availability for award.

I have booked the folks (3x) on a WS flight using Skymiles, but now WS has cancelled that flight and they're on an earlier flight. Tried to get an agent to put them on a later flight, but they're saying that there's no space even though I could book a brand new set of 3x tickets for them according to the Delta site. Sigh....

Tell the agent you don't accept the rebooking and want a refund, then book the original flight again (hopefully the amount stays the same)

Can you book later flight with miles?. Just because can book it with cash doesn't mean can book with miles. Advance schedule changes for awards on partner operated metal requires the partner have space for awards on new flight. If this was DL metal they could override.

These are good points too. I had assumed "brand new set of 3x tickets" was still referring to using miles, but on rereading OP didn't actually say.

Yes, sorry to clarify there are 4 seats on the later flight bookable with SkyMiles. However, the date of the return flight there is no more bookable WS flights through SkyMiles redemptions.

As I understand it, changes to award flights booked using SkyMiles with respect to WestJet might be done by booking the new ticket, then cancelling the old ticket... since WestJet only has 4x inventory space per flight (at a mega cheap flat-rate), I'm actually thinking it's the return flight that would be causing the issues.

It is. When you change outbound, you must reprice the entire ticket. (Award or cash both operate this way) As there's no availability on return it can't reprice the ticket.

as this is a schedule change ask agent to contact support desk. Since there's availability (as award) on later flight support desk can switch without system worrying about return. When agent handles they process just like a voluntary change, but tell system not to do an ADDCOLLECT for cost difference. Support and do it manually.

Award ticket pricing (AF)

Hi,
I am trying to figure out the correct pricing for an award ticket on AF. Itinerary would be AF 473 MRU-CDG / AF1300 CDG-MAD (J). Can't price it on Delta website so have had to contact Delta a couple of times. Agent says it needs to be priced as 2 separate tickets AF 473 65,000 miles + AF 1300 25,000 miles. Does this sounds correct?

I can see the itinerary as one single ticket both on AF FlyingBlue and Virgin Atlantic. Thanks

No, should be one award. However AF may not be making MRU-MAD available to DL using married segment logic.. There may also be options using combo of KQ/AF. Hpwever agent who knows how to book KQ is an issue.

HUCA.
