Hello Everyone,
Due to a merging error - much of the history of this thread is sitting in the Amex Companion fare thread:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delt...er-thread.html

The moderation team is in the process of moving posts over to this thread, however it is a very manual process that requires reading every post in the two merged mega threads, so please bear with us as we piece this together.

Ahh ok. I was remembering seeing different pricing for the same routes on partners, but I search for all kinds of dates so AP requirements would make sense.

Most partner awards have 3 different mileage levels now depending on advance purchase with 60-day, 21-day, and no advance requirements. Virgin Australia was one of the few remaining that didn't, but obviously they are no longer an option. You can find the advance purchase requirements and possible broken fare constructions at the "Fare Rules" link when pricing them out. If a broken fare is involved, it will list multiple award fares and which fare applies to which segment when you check the Fares Rules page.

And VS also, I thought DL had dragged down to the dark side of variable award pricing in SM.

As for booking additive pricing, it really varies. Sometimes DL will spit it right out. Other times agents have to jump through hoops and get GTS to put it together. And sometimes putting it together, with the right agent, ends in a proper through-fare (well that is where DL just won't show certain connections through well known bugs in its UI, though it's readily available and will price properly at ticketing).

VS metal awards have had 3 levels for some time now and they have been harmonized with AF/KL levels.
For TATL J awards:
No advance = 195K CSM1950 awards
21-day advance = 135K CSMG1350 awards
60-day advance = 120K CSMH1200 awards

Using SkyMiles on SkyTeam & Other Partners Master Thread

Speaking of VS and EU to US awards, there is a sizeable YQ (200 GBP) for one-way travel LHR to US imposed by VS. It doesn't seem to apply to round trip bookings. I recall a thread earlier, a few years ago, where some had been reportedly able to get the VQ refunded/credited back by Delta on a way award ticket, upon presenting an flown outbound Delta ticket (US to Europe or UK) a few days/weeks earlier, i.e. show that the "one-way" UK to US is part of a round trip, just booked as two separate one-ways. I can't seem to find it though now when searching.

Is my memory here right, or is it off? With covid and the constantly changing rules and regulations it's almost a requisite to book one-way flights and then see which routing and option works one way, and which on the return. If my memory here is not faulty, has anyone had any recent experiences with requesting a refund of the VS LHR to US VQ surcharge from Delta (reservations? customer care? and when to request it?), by showing that the "one way" is actually the return portion of a round trip booked as two one ways?

No. DL goes by the ticket. If it starts ex-EU you pay YQ. Would be logistical nightmare, plus they would be on hook to VS/AF/KL for the amount they refunded.

I figured the user (i remember the post) was confused with the LHR APD/luxury tax. You can get that refunded if you fly in within 24hrs of scheduled departure from LHR.

Thanks! My memory of it was a big foggy, and I thought was it regarding the UK APD/luxury tax or the YQ, as I recalled both being mentioned in the thread.

So it was the UK APD/luxury tax then. How did that work exactly?
That's a currently relevant topic, given that DL has pretty much blocked offering connecting award flights in EU for this summer (it seems, as most point to point searches past AMS and other major hubs have nothing available at any price on delta.com, though the EU flights are widely available without the US connections), and usually the only reasonable (cost-wise) way back to US is a VS flight out of LHR, with a separate connecting flights ticket into LHR.
Was it that you present a connecting flight into LHR ticket (DL issued only? or any carrier?) within under 24 hours of connecting departure and then DL will refund that UK APD/luxury tax of the LHR-__(US) flight?

You have to submit copy of recipet/ BP to DL online. They then issue refund. Any airline, just needs to be scheduled arrival within 24hrs of scheduled departure from LHR.

Hi,
Just a quick follow up on the KLM NBO-AMS-HEL flight I was trying to book a few days ago. As DL was showing 1 seat (O) for NBO-AMS on KL 563 I tried to book that flight today. However, after entering all the payment details, I get the following error, "Fare for the flights selected just sold out. Please try again". I have tried couple more times but keeping the same error. (DL still shows 1 seat avail. in O). Agent on the chat also said they can't get through payment. Any suggestions?

Phantom inventory. It shows as available but really is not. There isn't any known way to work around it... sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Some of the travelers had no visa to transfer via Atlanta, while I suppose AF would have possibly been an option to Panama.

It is my understanding that Delta does not redeposit miles, only re-books. I believe that re-depositing the miles would be reasonable, as they cancelled the route till further notice. I wrote Delta via the SkyMiles webform asking them to please redeposit the miles from the unused flights about a month ago, still no response.

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Update
Delta actually responded a week back and refunded all the unused flight miles. They wrote that they will at some point be refunding the taxes as well, although they have since written me saying something crazy about me exchanging the tickets so I cannot get a refund of the taxes. I will not pursue the taxes as I see it as a miracle they actually the refunded 500,000 miles.

Are there actually I/Z fares available for purchase, or just I/Z fare bucket inventory open showing on ExpertFlyer. Domestic FC fares have dual inventory checking just like C+ fares. U/T/X/V fare basis FC fares book into Z bucket and Q/K/L fares book into I bucket. So generally, if there are I/Z fares available for purchase, there will also be L/U/T/X/V inventory. But I suppose there could only be Q/K inventory open and you could still have I fares available for purchase as well.

Delta miles on Alitalia and benefits

Going Catania, Sicily to MXP(or LIN ok too).

searching google flights there are 5-6 daily NS on Alitalia.
Im platinum with Delta so whatever that makes me on Skyteam. Searching on Delta for award travel the only alternatives are 2 stop itineraries through FCO, AMS and or CDG. Nothing even one stop which I’d assumed would be what I’d have.

Why are these NS flight and even one stops not showing on Delta’s site. Is this something I could book with an agent, either cash or award?
Also, due to my status will baggage fees be waived for a certain number of bags?

You'll get one bag extra over your free allowance as a STE+ (based on PM status).

Awards require space be available by other airline to book. Airlines don't always make all seats available to partners.

Cash is always an option, but DL cant sell the ticket. You'll need to book with AZ.
