Hello Everyone,
Due to a merging error - much of the history of this thread is sitting in the Amex Companion fare thread:
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta-air-lines-skymiles/2053727-using-skymiles-skyteam-other-partners-master-thread.html

The moderation team is in the process of moving posts over to this thread, however it is a very manual process that requires reading every post in the two merged mega threads, so please bear with us as we piece this together.

They can through check across tickets. 75 min might not meet MCT though. (90 minutes i believe is MCT, however KE has many exceptions at ICN so reading MCT is hard)

Regardless it will price as two awards even on one reservation.

Gotcha thanks so much -- does the fact that it's for sale as a revenue ticket tell me that it is ok for MCT? Or will I just be at the complete will of the check-in counter at SFO?

It depends. Is it for sale using same flight numbers? (Ie not say DL codeshare number for one flight) If same,, then meets MCT. In this case it may be a married segments issue.

Regardless of MCT. itll price as 2 awards. This may be issue DL agent is actually having.

What about KQ? Isn't it that KQ awards still never show online and one has to call and book those as the process is different (not sure if long-sell or something else archaic)?
(And any other SkyTeam or other "partner" airlines like that now, or is KQ the lone outlier?)

KQ is the lone ST carrier can't see online. Otherwise Air Tahiti and couple of oddball airlines.

What's the way to piece together an itin with KQ flights and get DL to book it?

I tried to search on FT, but couldn't find anything recent and reasonably likely still to apply nowadays. (But I know the FT search is rather poor, so I may be simply not finding it.)

KQ shows on Flying Blue. But, the AF/KL FB program is variable mileage like DL, so not sure when it is/is not "available to DL". And, it never shows (either AF or KL search) KQ connections in NBO even when available, just different AF flights, which are generally not available from DL. At least for the route that I am searching: I am looking for flights to/from TNR. The AF CDG-TNR flight practically never has O available from DL (rarely around 330 day out mark it does, but then it's not available in conjunction with any connecting flights to get to CDG usually). So, it has to be a KQ connection in NBO. JFK/LHR/CDG/AMS-NBO-TNR, plus the two or three connecting flights to get to the KQ gateway. Or KL/AF to NBO. Either way, FB can never search the full route - it never has worked that way in all the many years. Neither can DL. Searching by segment is fine. But piecing available flights together one-by-one doesn't work like it used to, with married segment logic and variable pricing. So, my question is, what's the deal with KQ in the variable pricing and married segment logic era for awards? How is one to find available KQ flights to feed to the DL reps? And any way to predict how (and even if) it'll price together with connecting AF/KL/VS/DL flights?

Another Mileage Redemption Question

Hi DL forum,

I've got around 25K DL miles, and am curious to hear your suggestions on how to best redeem them anywhere in the world save for North America.

Cheers!

Could someone in the know please enlighten me about the following:

A simple Skymiles award ticket:

A to B is on DL and B to C is on KL
Revenue ticket is sold as one itinerary on the same PNR.
However, an award itinerary is being only offered as separate tix: A - B and separately B to C.
The agent with whom I tried unsuccessfully to book today, explained it as "Revenue Management decides what is available with miles and what is not".
This is happening quite frequently these days with award availability on itineraries where an Intra-Europe segment is involved.

Is this a quirk or would this involve the unfavorable "married segment logic for award tickets" ?

Hi all - Hoping to get some advice on upgrading with miles. Please let me know if there's a better thread to post this on.

I am a Delta Platinum member, and recently booked a flight from ATL to Asia, and all the flights are operated by Air France. The reservations say I'm not eligible for complimentary upgrades. As a far as I can see, AF couldn't care less about Platinum status and Delta Reserve card.

I'm curious if anyone has any experience upgrading using miles, either SkyMiles or Flying Blue. I have zero miles in my Flying Blue, but have AmEx points (diff card from Delta) that I can transfer if it's possible.
Not sure if AF allows paid upgrades a few days prior to flying... I've done with Qatar a few times and has worked out great.

Thanks!

Delta Medallions are not comp upgrade eligible on long-haul Delta international flights either. Delta One comp upgrades are limited to domestic Delta One flights only and they do not apply to international Delta One flights. The Delta Premium Select cabin is also not eligible for comp upgrades for Delta Medallions. Basically, the only cabin on long-haul international Delta flights that is comp upgrade eligible is Comfort+ as shown below. So it should be no surprise that you are not comp upgrade eligible to business class on AF operated flights. You can only upgrade with Skymiles on AF operated flights if you have purchased a high-fare Y/B/M fares or perhaps Premium Economy fares. If you have purchased a lower-class fare, you would have to exchange your tickets for a higher class fare and pay fare difference. If there is no mileage upgrade inventory currently available, you would have to hope for it to open at some point and there is a risk they may never open up.

Thank you for your reply. My ticket class is L, so I guess I'll just deal with it. I don't think purchasing a higher fare class and gambling for an upgrade is worth it. Glad I'm at least able to fly DL. They didn't even have any options before, and we always had to resort to an airline such as Qatar Airways.

AF/KL offer DoD upgrades on all flights for $. (This includes award tickets) Simply do OLCI and during that process click a seat in cabin wish to upgrade to. It will tell you the cost for that flight. It'll ask for payment for any flights you've chosen to upgrade at end of OLCI and you'll be seated in that cabin. You get all benefits except for bonus mileage. (You earn based on what cabin you actually booked originally) Pricing is variable and depends on length of flight/how packed cabin is. You can upgrade to any higher cabin, including LA PREMIERE (IFC).

No more 72 hour rule. Free redeposit depends on where ticket first flight starts. If it starts outside of N America, fee applies (unless exempt based on status), it doesn't matter when cancel, just where ticket starts at.

Thank you! Do you know where I can find the award cancellation fee for flights originating outside of North America?
