I am little late in joining the game and a little slower in getting to the bottom of this:
I was "Silver" in beginning of 2021 (through Million Miler Status). I did Status Match with Southwest A-list and was upgraded to Delta "Gold" . Then I completed Delta Status Match Challenge and that extended my "Gold" status until 31Jan2022.
I have NOT EARNED "Gold" in 2021.
Now, with this announcement of "Extension of Medallion Status"; does my "Gold" gets carried over into the entire of 2022, until 31Jan2023 ?
I am hoping I'll have more travel opportunities in 2022 and would love to take advantages of some of the benefits of "Gold".
I appreciate your clarification.
Thanks.

If the extended status were showing now, you'd have no way to easily see whether you had earned the status or not. Earned status tiers will get higher upgrade priority.

Anyway, glad to hear that my situation is normal.
FWIW, I always travel in J, so status doesn't get me much, perhaps priority during IRROPS (or would if DL had working phone support), but I'd rather not have any glitches.

They announced extended 2021 status in March 2020, but it did not actually show on your account until around January 7th, 2021. So don't freakout if 2022 extended status doesn't show on your account until sometime early next year.

My PM status extension for next year just updated as well, both in the app and on Delta.com. That wasn't the case as of a couple days ago so it appears to be a recent change.

Status extended
I see that my Platinum status has now been extended through 2022 and now the counters are showing my what I need to get to achieve Diamond this year. I assume that I'll get the higher Platinum status if I pay attention and hit the 75,000 MQM and the $25k Amex waiver, but I'll need to track it myself. Does that seem correct?

After thinking about it a bit more, it occurs to me that maybe you were asking, will there be any difference in wording when you hit "real" Plat vs. extended Plat. In which case no there's no distinguishing language that separates the two.

Does anyone know if my timeframe to select my choice benefits for PM and DM will also be extended another year or do I still need to make that selection by 1/31/2022? I was curious if I could take advantage of the Sky Club options for next year; otherwise, the Sky Club choice expires 1/31/2022, regardless of when I select it if I read the info correctly. I haven't redeemed anything yet because I haven't flown DL since I completed the Status Match challenge requirements. I don't see the extension reflected on the DL website or App as some people have but I am trusting that it will happen.
