Delta 1908 flight delayed what type of compensation

So flights delayed over an hour because according to the pilot a mechanic took the parking break light bulb to put it on another plane now we have to wait for another plane to steal that light bulb.

boggles the mind

Zippity. Stuff happens. Were you severely inconvenienced? Complain online and they will throw you 5000 miles.

I'm sure there is more to the story. Sorry you are delayed.

Why? Let's say that this robbed unit is used for a flight that's international and crew is at risk of timing out. Would you, as Delta, rather risk a longer flight cancel with 3x the revenue as DL1908? Or would you delay DL1908 for 4 hours, take that hit, but run your international flight.

There's dozens of scenarios that make perfect business sense. Now, that doesn't mean it doesn't absolutely suck. But it doesn't boggle the mind at all.

if it was taken yesterday as the pilot implied I would assume it would have been replaced by now. .

Even more, the return flight (SDQ-JFK) for this plane is 100% O&D. It arrives at JFK at 10:45 PM, which means the earliest viable connection time is 12:10 AM. Delta doesn't really fly any flights after midnight from JFK. So no one is missing their flight - at worst folks are delayed about an hour. It's likely that whatever plane needed that light was doing more turns that could have resulted in missed connections.

A delayed flight sucks, but if no one is missing a connection and it's just one hour? I'd call that a good day all things considered. If you're making plans dependent on arriving exactly on time, you're going to be in for a bad time.

None. My flight on Monday was delayed due to pinhole leak in a hydraulic line.

My compensation was a re-route via DTW on the Devil's Chariot (CR2), followed by a middle seat, and getting home 5.5 hours after my scheduled arrival time.

Yeah, echoing the posters above, while a 1.5 hour delay is frustrating, it happens. If it was 8+ hours, that'd be a different story, but otherwise, that's the vagaries of air travel at work.

Compensation will be mileage related. Be sure to complain online and they'll give you a canned response and a few thousand Skymiles, it'll buy you a glass or two of Dom in the SC on your next trip.
