A lot of misinformation in this thread.
The true answer comes down to whether your carry on is actually a true carry on. As in, would it easily slot in and out of the sizing device (hint - most people's would not, even if empty, much less when packed).
A Travelpro FlightCrew 22" or 20" will fit CR9, CR7, and CRJ bins (albeit side on). The 20" will even fit in a Q400 prop aircraft bin. I do it routinely. There are several rollaboard models that will fit even CRJs/Q400s etc. You just need to make sure it's not overstuffed as there is only JUST enough clearance for the linear measurements.
While the GAs may assume your carry rollaboard will fit, I've never been "refused" to even try taking it on, and if I get asked to gate check I just let them know it always fits but that I have a pink/green tag on hand just in case.

I'm a photographer, I travel with a backpack with all my camera bodies and lenses, then a carry on roller usually with some lighting equipment. When I'm stuck on an CRJ/700/900 I will put my lighting gear in a separate padded bag inside my carry on roller. I'll gate check the roller, and pull the lighting gear out and carry it on. I usually will put the backpack in the overhead bin (it fits in every regional jet I've flown so far) and the smaller lighting bag under the seat in front of me. When we arrive at the next gate I'll put the lighting bag back in the carry on roller I gate checked, and move on.
Hope that helps.

If you can board early, what was just said above is the way to go.

I found this video it shows how big the clearance for bins which I think my roller would fit just fine.

I have the new Away carry-on. Fits with room to spare in Delta's CRJ700 and CRJ900 planes, but needs to be *crammed* into the CRJ200. I tried it once just to see, but it's such a hassle to get in & out I'm going to do the pink-tag valet from here on.
So yes, the CRJ200 bin is absolutely smaller than the CRJ700. FWIW, it was plenty deep to fit my bag, but the height of the bin gave me issues.

In my experience, I've never seen an airplane bin smaller than what's on the CR2. Granted, I've never flown an old school ERJ or some of those weirder puddle jumper dinosaurs, but I think even the Dash 8 has much bigger bins than the CR2. I can get my 3/4 full Filson duffle into pretty much every overhead bin except for the CR2.

There's actually a toggle latch on the door that needs to be popped for the door to slide open. It's the same color as the bin door, so it's easy to miss.

I think the size is really close. I can barely fit my roller board into a CR9 and it barely does not fit on a CR7. It's a hard sided roller board, so it's not like I stuffed more stuff on one trip vs. another.

My husband does most of the flying in our family so I am a bit out of the loop on this so please forgive me. I have an upcoming trip on an Embraer 175 in first (single seat) and have read that people with rollerboards are often asked to check them as they will not fit in the overhead bins.
I'm packing very light for this trip specifically to avoid having to deal with baggage claim. I was hoping to take my 20" rollerboard, however, have an 18" that I could utilize as well. I'm thinking the smaller one will have a better chance of making it on the plane. I will have a personal item, too can't fit both under the seat. Will the 20" fit?

An E-175 OH bin should fit standard roll-a-boards (it’s the CRJ bins that won’t fit full size roll-a-boards and this require gate-checking). However in FC, the single seat side will have a smaller bin so you will have it put your roll-a-board in the OH bin on the 2 seat side.

It depends on the dimensions of your ' 20" ' bag. Not all bags are the same size despite the generic labeling.
I had a Rimowa Salsa IATA for many years. It fit perfectly, with no room to spare, in both the CRJ and ERJ overheads. I sometimes had to squabble with the FA a bit, as they 'assured' me it wouldn't fit, but it did (without cramming it in).
That bag was 21.7 x 15.7 x 7.9 in. If your bag is below that, you should be OK. Especially as I believe the E175 bins are bigger than the CRJ bins.

This is key. Don't get into an argument with the gate agent. Just take the pink tag, but don't put it in your bag. If they make you put it in, then remove it as you are walking down the jetway so the flight attendant does not see it, and then put your bag in the o/h bin. If for some reason it actually does not fit, put the pink tag back on and check it.
