They would've allowed anyone to rebook via AMS/CDG . Not a hard reroute, self rebooking tool would've even worked.

Question for those who have already flown JFK to DBV, a few weeks back Croatia removed the need to show proof of paid accommodation. Did Delta ask for this when checking in? I'm asking because Delta hasn't yet removed that requirement from their website.

At no point in the process did anyone (Delta, DBV passport control) ask for proof of paid accommodation. But you never know... Always good to have a print out of your accommodation. Generally any foreign country can require you to show proof of hotel/airbnb and enough cash/money for your trip. Prepare for it all and be happy if you are not asked for it.

We flew JFK-DBV last Friday (Aug 6th). Delta barely looked at our vaccine cards and was very cavalier about the whole process while checking in at JFK sky priority. DBV passport control was easy and they did not look at vaccine card. Make sure you per-register with Croatian gov't a few days before your trip. You will receive an email confirmation that you have registered. They link this registration to your passport so make sure you do that or you will have issues getting into Croatia.

Lots of Europeans are here in DBV on vacation so there was not a lot of space on AF/KLM flights. Btw KLM has 1 flight a day DBV-AMS. AF has two flights DBV-CDG so no, there is not a lot of flexibility to re accommodate 200+ passengers on a same day AF/KLM flight. It took Delta hours to re-book 200 pax in hotels. DBV is very busy right now. Locals say the tourism is about 75% of 2019 levels so it's very crowded. AND HOT. wheh.

@flyerCO. I appreciate your flyertalk knowledge but this is not entirely correct. Delta cancelled DBV-JFK on Aug 5 due to a mechanical issue on on the inbound aircraft JFK-DBV from the day before. FA's said they resolved the MX issue but the pilots had already timed out so DBV-JFK was cancelled. I arrived at DBV Sat Aug 7th and the previous day's aircraft was still there. There were multiple technicians on my JFK-DBV Aug 6th that were flown in to remedy the aircraft or do some final checks/repairs.

Same issue would be at play if DL had say a 2nd daily flight. There might not be space available.

OH yeah. There was a major traffic accident along the only road that goes to DBV airport on Aug 7th morning. Our pre-arranged driver called us in a panic to say he could not make and we should just take a taxi. Cars were literally stuck for hours in traffic. Delta ultimately delayed DL 185 by almost 2 hours to accommodate all of the late arriving passengers.

Not going to quibble! I'm on vacation! But flyerCO you started by saying passengers can easily rebook to an AF/KLM flight using the app (or web site). That is NOT correct if those flights are full. So available space has everything to do with it. My guess is AF/KLM had few if any seats. Anyway in this case delta had two DBV-JFK flighs on Saturday Aug 7th. Most or all of those pax were put on the 2nd flight of the day.

Many carriers refuse to rebook onto OAL or make doing so a nearly impossible task. DL allows you to rebook onto AF/KL via self-rebooking tools.
The need for there to be space on said flight is self evident.

My wife and I took this flight for a trip the first half of August, D1 both ways with GUCs. Flying out, we were just asked for covid cards and the Croatia app. We rented a nice car from Hertz - all the rental places are right outside arrivals and went to Dubrovnik, Hvar, Split, Sarajevo, Mostar, and Porto Montenegro. We loved each stop, especially Dubrovnik and Hvar. Traveling north from Dubrovnik, Waze routed us to a ferry as opposed to driving through the sliver of B&H as that crossing was very backed up, adding a couple of hours to that leg. Otherwise, the crossings from Croatia to B&H, B&H to Montenegro, and Montenegro to Croatia were each only 15-20 minutes. Entering B&H and back into Croatia we were asked for our covid cards. At DBV, the D1 check-in was very efficient but the main cabin line stretched forever. Also at DBV, there was no longe available as even the Priority Pass lounge is now closed (there is just a United lounge). Cabin crew was excellent both ways and the flight times are fantastic (for us) for adjusting to time zones.

Apparently Italy just changed their rules today, I don't expect Croatia to do that (remember last year they were the most lax of all), but if you want to play safe you can always get a test in the US before departure as an extra precaution, though I don't think that's needed IMO.

Traveled yesterday to France, no changes, just vaccine card to show (still slowing down check-in).
