Question Will I earn miles for my Aeromexico flight - Z class?

Recently booked and about to fly an Aeromexico flight. It's a business/premier class, bought from Delta.com. NOT an award ticket.

It's listed as a Z-class. When I go to the Delta earn miles with partners it doesn't list Z-class. Says if the class is not listed, I won't earn anything?

https://www.delta.com/us/en/skymiles...rline-partners

So I understand this is a Discounted Business Class. Strange..as even discounted economy tickets earn something.

https://cwsi.net/delta.htm

can anyone shed light on this?

Last year I was disappointed I could not access the Delta Club on a Business Class ticket to Mexico. Apparently Mexico isn't considered international nor is it Delta One. So confusing Delta is compared to Alaska or AA, etc.... Now I know I can access Delta Sky Club because I have an Amex Plat now. But this mileage thing could be another slight disappointment.

Is it possible you are booked in Z class on a Delta flight number (regardless of operating carrier)? If so, you'll earn credit as any other DL flight. AM does not use Z class for revenue fares.

You are looking in the wrong section. You don't have a partner ticket (e.g. Aeromexico); instead, you have purchased a Delta (006) ticket with partner flights. You will earn based on the fare of the ticket.

Yes, they are DL flight numbers, just operated by Aeromexico.

ahh..now I see the wording...DELTA MARKETED flights. So just 5 miles / $1 I guess. Ok...well..something is better than nothing...but not as good as the 200% AM for business.

Thanks for the clarification!

Delta is so tricky!

It's pretty much an industry standard, with the exception of Star Alliance airlines where the operating carrier determines earning.

When you book on delta.com, you will usually get a Delta-marketed flight unless you try to book something else. It is possible to buy partner-marketed segments, but the DL* codeshares are higher up in the results.

For revenue flights, I haven't seen any partner marketed flights offered up on delta.com in recent memory when using Delta's flight search. The only way I've successfully pulled them on delta.com is by using Bookwithmatrix.
