If one can't figure out a way to discreetly consume their own alcohol in an airport or on a plane that's on them. It ain't all that hard in my experience.

I do contracting, pricing and marketing support for a medical company to large, multi specialty private equity backed organizations who use our products. I have accounts all over the country. I was grounded on 3/6. We tried to do everything virtually but eventually found out that many things that we do are much more impactful in person. A few weeks ago my company gave us the green light to travel and visit these accounts if 1) we were comfortable doing it 2) the accounts were willing to see us and 3) we follow all local guidelines. Every one of my accounts said yes they would see me so the race began. The feeling of kinda sorta normalcy has been well received by all parties.

Exactly. The problem is most people (at least Americans) have the alcohol maturity of a frat bro and can’t seem to manage themselves appropriately. This is where problems begin.

But compared to UK residents, Americans are teetotalers

I love how some LV casinos have run out of beer after a boxing match involving a British boxer, and that this has happened more than once

Does not surprise me. You can see the same behavior on any given Friday or Saturday at Gatwick. Or that weekend in cities in Europe that are served by Ryanair or EasyJet.

Frankly, traveling isn't fun right now. Hotels are like ghost towns, most hotel restaurants are not open (varies by region) and there's no breakfast. Many restaurants and bars either aren't open, or reservation only. In most places everything closes early (~9-10pm). I've found myself exploring parks and trails and stuff (and even those were closed in some places) and trying to minimize hotel nights. If there's any good news, hotels are cheap right now.

I work in the manufacturing segment. I didn't (air) travel for a few months, but I'm traveling about every other week since July 1. We're actually quite busy at the moment. Our customers include medical, auto, agriculture, wind energy, airplanes, military, power plants, etc (and all of their suppliers). We're doing as much as we can virtually, but IP is very sensitive in our industry and there are just some things you can't do/share during a Teams meeting. Many of our customers weren't allowing visitors for a while, but almost all are now. At our company anyone who doesn't want to travel, isn't forced too and everyone is encouraged to work from home as much as possible.

That said, they asked if I wanted anything from room service at check-in as you couldn't simply call it in from the room. Didn't utilize that, but not entirely surprising.

Some years ago pre-9/11 some guy in the seat next to me brought on a traveler bottle of gin or something. He was just opening it up and boldly adding it to his drink and got nailed by the FA. I was pretty embarrassed for him, it was that bad of a scolding in front of everyone in earshot.
