Are DL's SEA-KIX & JFK-TXL Routes Gone for Good?

I cant find anything concrete online about them going away or coming back. Does anyone know if the removal is only COVID related?
TIA

TXL is scheduled to close on 8 Nov this year with all traffic switching over to BER. I dont know if this impacts the actual JFK route, but could explain why you aren't seeing TXL specifically

TXL seems to be a route that, historically, is one of the first to get cut. ARN usually follows closely behind.

This of course assumes it actually opens this time around, which with BER is always a bold assumption.

Someone will pull a fire alarm, thus delaying the opening a few more years...

No way this is true. KIX serves Japanís second busiest business cities. DL will definitely tap KIX for flight service when normalcy returns. Same with TXL//BER for Germany. While Frankfurt easily is the financial and business center of Germany, significant business and political heavyweights are centered in Berlin. DL will have plans for flight service connecting US to these communities when stability return.

DL had initially kept JFK-BER as a returning route next summer even as they cut other seasonal destinations like SNN, GLA, CPH and PRG. Unfortunately about a week or two later, they canceled BER for next summer as well. That being said, Berlin as a destination on DL metal has come and gone quite a few times so I wouldnít be too surprised if it comes back the following summer (2022) if conditions improve significantly...

DL seems to be cutting down it's international operations in a big way. HNL-KIX, NGO completely gone, HND a sad shell and small fraction of what NRT used to be and more cut (e.g. where NRT was 4x daily 747 and A330, HND is 4x weekly tiny 767). No other airline is making cuts as far as ahead and as big as DL, at least in regards to flights to/from Japan, from what I've seen. DL really seems to have given up on Japan. Even before this, capacities out of KIX were cut down several fold, e.g. what used to be 2x daily 747+A330 was now 1x daily tiny 767. The recent events seem to have sealed the nail in the coffin...

Do you realize how many times DL has dropped SEA-KIX? This is what, the third time?

Iíve flown SEA KIX back since Northwest operated DC10 between two cities as NW95/96 and Seattle wasnít even a hub. The flight has come and gone so many times...... Thereís definitely a market for the route, just not yet year-round. Only three times, lol. Itíll come back again for the -teenth time....

SEA-KIX has never made much sense. If flying on DL HNL has been the place to connect to if going KIX, with it usually being timed for connections from ATL-HNL, not to mention west coast and MSP flights as well, while HNL-NGO being the same aircraft on LAX-HNL-NGO and vv.

But DL dropping the always-packed-full routes like HNL-KIX, (LAX-)HNL-NGO, and massively reducing TYO through the end of next summer is indicative of a significant, if not major, int'l retreat. Understandable given essentially zero tourist flow now and the continuing hard lockdowns and quarantine, but it being out of schedule through end of last summer is more than DL just being overly pessimistic as DL is not even trying to get back to pre-pandemic flight through the summer of 2021 and is giving all the next year booking to its competitors.

This, combined with UA retreat from NRT is a good indication of how severe this impact is.

It is. At this time. Non-US airlines though still have schedules for December and onwards throughout 2021 normal still for Japan - US. I mean JL, NH, even KE (for their flights like NRT-HNL, and also ex-ICN flights of course). DL is in the same camp as LCCs, like Air Asia X, which also won't let you book for next year (e.g. KIX-HNL), and quite unlike other "legacy" airlines. As pax continue book trips they hope to make next year now, DL is losing that business, thus cementing the nail in its own coffin....or, who knows, may be being smarter and ahead of the pack if things don't work out with the vaccines.
