The 77L is currently operating Saturday only on ATL-LAX but that appears to end on 9/5.

I was shocked there weren't more people willing to travel. You don't realize how bad things are in the US until you see how good they are in Europe. My time there felt like military leave, and now I feel like I'm back in a war zone. I'm already planning another trip.

I saw a 359 ATL-SEA scheduled for one day in early-mid Sept (don’t remember the date). Pretty sure it was a 1 off positioning flight.

Some interesting observations about this initial schedule:
- no 757s across the Atlantic next summer
- no A359s across the Atlantic except for ATL-JNB
- MSP-ICN is scheduled to be an A332; the A332 schedule as loaded is all over the place with no nice way (yet) to get the plane rotated through so many different city pairs
- DUB, MAD, and BCN all get 763ERs next summer (due to multiple US gateways) - they have been A333s for many summers now
- quite a few 764s operating next summer which means they probably intend to continue refurbishing the rest of the fleet (8); there were rumors that they would not refurbish the remaining 8 764s in order to cut CapEx.
- KIX looks like it's gone completely (no SEA or HNL)

Thanks for posting the schedule with the gauges/equipment. I think it's interesting that DL isn't deploying the 75S on TATL given the expected decrease in demand - unless they plan on parking those planes if they're coming up on a heavy check? Some of those birds are getting a bit old too.

Interesting that JFK-NCE is an A332. For years it’s been a 764. I think it’s been a 764 since a few years after they took on the route from PanAm. I remember being on a random plane in the 1980s on that route, maybe a A300? I recall flying on other random/one-off PanAm planes, such as LAX-MIA-GIG/Sao Paolo on a L-1011. But I digress...

Hopefully DL starts to reconfigure 763s soon now that they are retiring all 777s

Oh Wise Delta FlyerTalkers,
Last Thursday near O'Hare I saw a Delta 777 fly over me. I was shocked to see a Delta wide body in Chicago and equally curious that a 777, that I thought had been phased out of the Delta fleet was still flying. I checked Plane Finder and noted that the Destination was Frankfurt. I forgot the flight number but I think it was DL 2406.
Has Delta added Chicago as an Emphasis Market and running non-stops TATL or is this the pre- cursor to the imminent Delta-United Merger ?

I'm being optimistic that things will improve by December and have scheduled a string of pet sits in the UK starting around Xmas. When looked a few weeks back, the only flights across the Atlantic to get to London were on VS connecting at JFK or ATL or using AF or KL and connecting in Europe.
Today I found 1 DL flight a day from ATL (330-300) and JFK (767-400) each.
At about a 20% mileage premium for business class - 210,000 miles to fly the DL flights, 172,000 miles for the VS flights. Test bookings show that the taxes and fees are the same whether using DL or VS metal across the Atlantic.
Of course this may all fall apart if the UK doesn't ease restrictions.

To me, the larger question is when does LHR reinstate slot requirements, and to what degree? If LHR slots become use it or lose it again, there will suddenly be a lot more TATL flying to LHR... even if the planes are mostly empty.

At some point, the UK will obviously ease restrictions. Honestly, Covid or not, I can’t see the restrictions being in place for too many months longer.
