Never been on any DL 777, but I'm hoping to fly their 777-200LR. Are any of these active?
With other airlines, I've flown on the 772, 77E, 773, and 77W, but never the 77L.

Flying ATL-LAX next Saturday (8-29) on a 777-200 LR unless there is a last second swap

Currently, the only active Delta 77L routes that are pax flights, is the LAX-SYD, and (of course) not daily - but around 3 times a week. And, only one (1) currently Delta 772 pax route flying is LAX-HND - and again not daily, but around 3 times a week.

Isnt flying MCO-ATL roughly like sitting out on the curb on trash day for a widebody? :ducks:

There was a time when MCO-ATL was 80-90% widebody.

Same for MIA/FLL - ATL but to be fair, F on the A321 is nicer than on the old domestically configured 767s DL had

So, after a good bit of research, it looks to me like the last domestic 777 flight will be a 77L on LAX-ATL-LAX on September 5th:

DL460 - LAX-ATL 8:25a-3:40p
DL679 - ATL-LAX 5:10p-6:28p

Happy to be proven wrong if anyone can find anything after that.

I wish they would do a triangle routing between the 3 main Intl hubs as a one off. Something like LAX-ATL-JFK-LAX

We haven't agreed on much lately but I agree here. While I certainly understand why, I too am disappointed at the mostly unceremonious retirement of the MD-88s & MD-90s from the fleet and sadly the 777s may receive the same quiet sendoff. Wish I could've participated in one of the final flights MD-88/90 flights though for me it wasn't an option (if the retirements still went ahead for late 2020/early 2021 it wasn't going to be an option for me to participate either but at least the sendoff would have been more fun and memorable for those who would've gotten to participate). Same is likely true for the 777 sendoff. I was fortunate to be able to participate in AA's "Super 80" sendoff last year, though on CVG-DFW that day, not on the final DFW-ORD flight.

I sure hope some show up later, I can’t do the 14 day quarantine with work, passing through GA and CA right now.

I’m looking at trying to jump on the LAX-ATL flight back that Saturday and would take AA’s 77W service from MIA out to LAX a couple days before. There’s never a lack of things that can be done in the LA area. I would like to find something later ideally but at the same time I have a feeling the last flight will be something like HND-ATL and then that’ll be it.

Luckily, I’m not bound by any quarantine though.

MIA-ATL too. My very first DL flight was on an L-1011, MIA-ATL in December 1985.

Just in case, I grabbed a seat on DL679. It may not be the *last* 777 flight, but it's the last I think I'll have the chance to fly.
