DL66/ DL67 ATL-ZRH Stop Sale
Hello,
Since last week I saw that Delta has took off the availability of DL66/DL67 ATL/ZRH both ways completely. Its not just during next few months, its forever - but it remains on schedule and my active booking shows the flight is GTG. Any idea why such thing happens? Thanks, Jay |

It's very common to initially zero out fare bucket inventory on flights they intend to cancel to prevent new bookings. They spread out the actual flight cancellations over time most likely to prevent the call centers from getting overwhelmed with rebookings. New schedule loads are generally made on Saturday's. It's basically the airlines' way of flattening the rebooking curve. They will notify you once they have actually cancelled the flight and rebooked you on new flights. You can also signup for notification of when the flight is formally pulled from the schedule here -- https://www.delta.com/flight-status/search

If it's no longer available for booking but still appears in your reservations, it's probably going to be cancelled, but it seems to take some time for that to propagate through the system. See this thread for a similar situation: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delt...ta-flight.html

I am afraid I am in the same boat with DL410 MCO-AMS. It shows zeroed out for all dates now. Unfortunately, I booked it with VS miles so when it is officially cancelled I may be out of luck for getting rerouted. With VS charging miles for each segment, rerouting will cost me more if there is award availability. Best case is there is partner award availability and VS is willing to rebook without additional miles. Likely case is rerouting and having to cough up more miles. Worst case is paying $$$$.

In today's environment booking anything more than 1 week in advance or booking mileage tickets for Summer or Autumn is not a good idea.
And mileage tickets only make sense only on the same airline who owns your miles , because you have better chances of protection. Booking mileage leave ticket for partner airlines beyond a week or two is plain stupid, because 99% flight will be cancelled or rescheduled and with mileage ticket you will not get automatic protection and will need to find another flight which has mileage availability. |
I noticed the same thing for my mid-June JFK-PRG flight. Been holding out on canceling that itinerary until flights around that time actually start being canceled, but as others have indicated, I think that's a pretty good indication of its fate.

As expected, many of the summer TATL cuts appear to have now been loaded into the system with Saturday schedule updates.

Yeah.. no notification from Delta yet, but my tickets have been booked to reroute from JFK instead of nonstop ATL ZRH. I guess I'm cancelling the trip anyway given the state of affairs.

My itinerary's LAN-DTW and JFK-PRG flights were indeed canceled. Even after accepting the itinerary changes, it did not move me to alternate flights, so my itinerary is broken. But, yeah, given the state of affairs, we're not going anywhere this summer, so it's time for Delta to refund my $2,500 float.

Just to confirm my understanding, if your flight is removed from the schedule this is the same as a cancellation and there fore eligible for a full refund. IN the OP's case the ZRH flight disappeared, and I think over the weekend a lot of ATL lift was dropped.

There are currently only four transatlantic flights with available inventory from the June schedule.

Given that its months away, I'll just be patient and see what happens. (I was in paid DeltaOne, hopefully I still will be when it gets re-booked.) |
