It appears to be twice daily most days actually. 3340/42 eastbound, 3341/43 westbound. I would say almost definitely cargo.

Most of DL's international routes will be running by around the middle of July with the exception of the JFK BOM route that began just this last December 2019. Anyone know if Delta has second thoughts about running this route or maybe it's being send via ATL at some time in the future. If you attempt to try to book JFK BOM in Sept or Oct - you go to AMS and then fly KLM to BOM.

Most? DL cancelled a significant amount of international routes for the summer a week and a half ago and reduced frequencies on a number of others. The following have been cancelled for the summer season.

AMS-MCO
AMS-TPA
ATL-BCN
ATL-DUB
ATL-MAD
ATL-MXP
ATL-VCE
ATL-ZRH
BOS-EDI
BOS-FCO
BOS-LIS
BOS-MAN
CDG-IND
CDG-SLC
CPH-JFK
DTW-FCO
DTW-MUC
GLA-JFK
JFK-KEF
JFK-NCE
JFK-PRG
JFK-SNN
JFK-TXL
JFK-VCE
KEF-MSP
LHR-PDX
LHR-SLC

This past weekend, they reduced the June international schedule to just a small handful of flights. The July schedule will likely end up with similar cuts. I think you can be confident that JFK-BOM (or ATL-BOM) will not return any time soon.

Really? Most countries could have their current entry restrictions through the summer, basically that only their own (or EU/Schengen) citizens/residents can enter with few exceptions. If most people with USA passports cannot go to Europe and most Europeans cannot enter the USA, there won't be many TATL flights. The situation for TPAC is similar. Also, only about a dozen USA airports currently accept international flights (except transborder) due to the required health screening procedures.

JFK-BOM is currently scheduled to come back Dec 11 for now. It has been that way since they dropped it in late March. The route is in its first year, with pretty much guaranteed losses in its first year even pre-Covid-19 since international routes (especially ultra-long-haul ones in a competitive market) can take up to 18 months to mature and become profitable; given the priority to hoard cash currently, no airline has the luxury right now to "invest" in developing a nascent route.

I think you are either misinterpreting something and/or getting bad information from somewhere.

Yes, my comment was not stated very clearly - sorry bout that. The route list that was missing was the ones that are not coming back this year, and will be considered in the 2021 schedules: MCO-AMS, TPA-AMS, ATL-BCN, JFK-BRU, CVG-CDG, IND-CVG, RDU-CDG, SLC-CDG, JFK-CPH, JFK-DSS, ATL-DUB, ATL-FCO, BOS-FCO, DTW-FCO, JFK-FRA, JFK-GIG, JFK-GLA, MCO-GRU, BOS-LGW, PDX-LHR, SLC-LHR, BOS-LIS, JFK-LOS, ATL-MAD, BOS,MAN, DTW-MUC, ATL-MXP, JFK-NCE, JFK-PRG, JFK-SNN, JFK-TXL, ATL-VCE, JFK-VCE, ATL-ZRH, DTW-HNL, SLC-HNL, SEA-OGG, SLC-OGG. If I missed a couple from the list - I be bad again. Another route that was mysteriously missing from the DL list was MSP-ICN which was to be using an Airbus A350-900XWB.

DL 3343 FRA-ORD on a 777?

I just noticed this flight on Flightaware:

https://flightaware.com/live/flight/DAL3343

is this a normal flight? Route and equipment looks a bit odd (in particular with the announcement that 777s are going to be retired). And appears to be a daily flight, not a one time charter.

This flight originates at ORD but stops at ATL on the way to Germany. I think DL has another flight where DTW is an intermediate stop on the way to LHR.

There are actually 2 flights most days, DL3340 and 3342 ORD-FRA, DL3341 and 3343 FRA-ORD. They are non-stop ORD-FRA-ORD flights that are cargo only - no stop in ATL. The one to LHR will stop in DTW, but will also take passengers.

They will be resuming ATL-FRA at 3x weekly starting this Thursday 21 May; the driver is cargo but they will be selling pax seats on this flight as well (for those who are allowed to enter Europe of course). It will be an A333 and plane will originate from LAX (to provide LAX-ATL-FRA cargo service).

Correct, however that doesn't have any bearing on the ORD-FRA flights. The same is true of the ORD-DTW-LHR (although that is a 763, not a 333).
