Actually OJ is something I would rather in a smaller can since I don't like to drink more than 8 oz.

As a type 1 diabetic (who is always prepared for a low blood sugar), I wonder what Delta is doing if someone is a diabetic or hypoglycmic and has a low and they don't happen to have something to treat it now that they have no juice or regular soda on board.

That FA posting there seems to have a chip on her shoulder, with those who aren't falling on their knees and praising DL for throwing them half a bone.

The first aid kits have dextrose injection (by regulation) - I don't know whether FAs are all trained to give it via IV or if they have to announce for a doctor on board?

Completely agree. Being part of DL goes to the head of the newer FAs. This is a concern moving forward.

However, if I ever encounter anyone like this in the air, I ALWAYS placate them with compliments, if I want good service.

The first aid kits might also stock oral glucose gel. Orange juice would be dramatically preferable to anyone conscious.

Do we know the new products will be from Coke? Current water contract went to the lowest bidder, which was not the Coca-Cola Company. I would not assume Coke/Dasani/Minute Maid just because that's what it was pre-covid.

They may have a contract with Coke. I would be VERY surprised if they went with Pepsi seeing Coke and Delta are both huge Atlanta companies and Coke has pouring rights at ATL and DTW airports. I always thought Delta was in bed with Coke like they were Am Ex

I forgot about the first aid kits and I know some diabetics that prefer glucose tablets to OJ, I think the things taste like chalk myself and just carry fruit chews.

IV glucose is something you don't want to give a diabetic unless they are totally passed out and even then you should glive glucagon first. I know Delta doesn't have blood glucose readers in their first aid kits because one time someone got sick on board and they paged asking if a medical professional was on board and there was a paramedic and they made an announcement asking if someone had a blood meter and I allowed them to use mine.

The problem with that work-around is the TSA response to limit what liquid quantity you can carry through security. It's only lasts me about 1 hr in flight

I don’t know why DL didn’t bring Orange Juice back last summer alongside the beer/wine for this reason alone. On INTL flights pre-COVID, DL would only offer 3 options to avoid duty fees for F PDBs and was typically limited to water, 1 alcoholic option, and OJ.

The employee memo posted to the Reddit link someone posted up thread specifically mentioned that Coke itself would be catered so they were definitely involved in the contract in some way. Obviously they could decide to use a different juice vendor.

Sucks that Fresca isn't coming back since I like Fresca and Vodka and COke zero is my preferred soda.

Also think it's being cheap having the smaller cans of soda, but I'll just for two cans.
Fresca I thought was a Coke issue. There was a memo about Fresca a few months back. This was when all soda were experiencing shortages. No clue if that's still an issue.

Depends on which airport you regularly fly out of. I’ve found the ATL TSA agents at the pre-check lanes are much more lax than others. I regularly carry more than what fits in a 1 quart bag and never have any trouble.

I didn't think they made it in the small cans. They may not be making it right now, I know you can't get flavored coke zero or flavored diet coke right now, I asked the coke rep who was stocking the shelves at Kroger one time about it and he said there was a shortage of alunimum due to covid but not sure why they still couldn't make it in 2 liters or 20 oz plastic bottles.

I have precheck and have put my liquid bag in my carryon and have put a few minis in my backpack to have at my hotel and have never had an issue. A friend of mine puts his liquid bag in either his rollerbag or his backpack and has put a a sandwich bag of minis in the other bag and TSA never has said a thing since they don't want to take the time to ask who each bag belongs to but it's too big of a risk for me.

I've also heard of people rinsing out a empty small saline solution bottle and putting vodka in that and telling TSA it's for medical reasons for contacts and getting it through but I think that's pushing it

All food and beverage companies paired down during the pandemic to their best selling products because demand was so high and people were stocking up.

This is the same reason why Jif stopped making reduced fat peanut butter for awhile; I am not surprised Coke pared back the poorest selling varieties, like flavored Coke Zero or flavored Diet Coke.

It takes them significant down time to close retool an assembly line for these other products and they would rather not lose the capacity because their competitors are doing it, too, so they know that those who used to buy flavored Coke Zero will just buy regular Coke Zero.

Fresca may be on a temporary pause because they made consider they have alternatives within their lineup that sell better at the moment.
