This is correct:

Even Fox News is breaking in on it on during its prime-time opinionated programming lol.

It’s gone on for so long that it’s become a big deal now despite every other airline sorting this out months ago.

Wonder what the deal will be with actual food...

According to this article (https://thriftytraveler.com/news/air...light-service/), there will still be no hot meals domestically. It does sound like some cost cutting is still continuing as the soda cans will only be 7.5 oz and DL is raising the price of alcohol in the Main Cabin.

At least this sounds like a step in the right direction (DL still has a LONG way to go). But this is good news. I have some F flights coming up on April 26, so will be excited to try the new offerings.

Thanks for that, indeed a step in the right direction.

Although having to fly AA up front to get my Woodford fix is still disappointing.

Liquor/mixers will be available too, along with beer/wine/ready-to-drink cocktails.

I wrote to Ed a month ago to tell him I wasn't looking forward to 6 hours in First from JFK to SJD without a cold drink, and I've spent way too much time searching for cold packs and small coolers. While I'm traveling before the 14th (he must have missed that part of my plea!), is this flight domestic for this purpose? Would appreciate a cold drink on the return to NY. Thanks.

So can we assume that these canned beverages will be available as FC selections?

With regards to the 7.5 oz cans - these are generally more expensive at retail than 12 oz cans. No idea if Delta is paying per oz versus per can and how the price varies.

But the reason they are doing this is so the FAs don’t open the can - aka each passenger gets their own can. Versus before when they cracked a 12 ounce can and used it to fill ~2 cups. They hand you an unopened can and ice is on request only. Should make for an efficient service while also minimizing the FAs handling of the beverage.

There would be less waste per 7.5 oz vs 12 oz. In my local supermarket with loyalty discounts provided you buy 5 6 packs of 7.5 oz or 3 12 packs of 12 oz these came out the same price/oz.
[Pre-Colvid if I asked for a full can of 12 oz of soda they would give it to me, especially in FC.]
