True to my post a bit back, someone has seen one of the new flight fuel boxes.
They said, "New orange box had the gouda cheese spread, crackers, potato chips, oreo cookie, albanese gummy bears, beef stick and I think almonds."
Source

This makes me think, with the new investment and gradual rollout of this new box, we have a long while more of these flight fart boxes, but I did speak to Delta again last night. At the end of April, they are doing a re-evaluation on the domestic product. What I personally expect to come out of this is soft drinks (cocktails and elevated food service feels extremely hopeful but out of reach). We shall see.

So after a re-evaluation in six weeks, they will determine that adding soft drinks is OK, is that what you’re saying? But nothing else? Unbelievable. If that doesn’t convince you this is nothing more than cost savings I don’t know what will.

And as far as the FAs wanting to resume service, maybe some do. But from what I have seen they have become quite happy socializing and gossiping, reading, and picking up trash. As I’ve said before, it’s not a bad gig if you can get it.

Unfortunately, that is my speculation. I have spoken to Delta Corporate & Delta Custserv, and the re-evaluation and new snack (which we all slowly see and some have) is what is confirmed.

My speculation, and informally the Delta representative's I spoke to, concurred with the opinion that this re-evaluation may open up soft drinks since that is a big request right now.
I absolutely agree with you on the cost-savings. I managed to find the Delta Executive Office email which has been my direct line to diplomatically venting about the current product, and that is how I get all of my intel. It's not as muddy as it has been from frontline representatives that aren't being told anything.

Delta FAs... "we are here to collect your trash". Don't bother us for anything else.

So if that is indeed true that service will remain limited/bare bones and there is only a chance of soft drinks coming back, then I would expect seat blocking to remain in place as well.

Good point, I forgot they are blocking off seats so fewer people to compete for bin space.

If seat blocking goes away and they try and keep the bare bones F service, than I don’t know how anyone can justify paying for FC on DL at the rates they normally charge for it. You might as well just fly in the Big Front Seat on NK at that point. At least you can actually pay for a variety of decent food/drinks options.

I mean, honestly if the seat blocking is that important to someone they could realistically buy two BFS on NK with luggage, snacks and drinks and still make out cheaper than buying a single J seat on Delta.

I flew NK for 1st time and in BFS. Cheaper than coach on DL but better than what DL gives for F.

Sounds like a remix of the same junk we've been eating for months. Gummy bears and oreos would be the only thing new, I think.

FFS Delta, just bring back real food and drink in F. I'm at the point for the first time in my flying life that I see a clearer line of sight to qualifying for A List on SW than requalifying for Plat.

I'm looking at a DTW/LAS trip in April and decided to look at NK after reading this and another post from today.

NK has non stop flights with times that work better than Delta's and big front seat paying the carry on fee big front seat is $120 cheaper than Delta. I'm vacinated so don't care about seat mate. Even if I get the upgrade to F on Delta it's not worth paying extra for seeing there is no service in F.

Sad when NK provides more value than Delta for a diamond.

Man, how exciting to get back to the argument of PMDL vs PMNW FAs and who provides better services. Miss those debates! Anyhow, on about 50% of my mainline flights, the FA has offered to hang my coat. On 3/4 of my Endeavor flights, the FA has offered to hang my coat. The orange snack box seems to have switched up a little bit and now includes some type of chocolate thin cookie. Not much else to report.

I don’t think anyone has heard that the premium transcons would be evaluated on a different (earlier) timeframe than the other continental US flights.

That's pretty sad if that's the case because if any service should get upgraded aka closer to normal service its their premium branded aka Delta One.
