Delta Email System Problem?
Mods.. if this belongs in a better thread, please merge it.
I just received an email telling me that there is a change to my trip (MCT violation/misconnect).... except, it isn't my trip. I thought that this was a phishing attempt, since the email wasn't formatted quite right, but a look at the message header and the email links (without clicking any) looked legit. Out of curiosity, I was able to look up the reservation on delta.dumb with the record locator, person's name, see the trip details, receipt, SkyMiles number and status... I have no idea who this person is. I thought perhaps my account has been compromised, but I see nothing wrong in my own account activity. This seems pretty concerning since I could theoretically just wreck this person's trip with the information I have. Has anyone else seen the same thing? How to best report such an issue? |
If the person doesn't seem to have a DL FF account (of any level), it might be as simple as a typo in the email address when the trip was booked.

Next question: have you checked whether your credit card on file with DL or your miles were used for the ticket?
|
As mentioned in OP... yes, that was already checked.
I keep a very close eye on my accounts and re-verified. It was booked on a credit card, last 4 digits not any I own, nor do I have missing miles nor any transactions from/around the date of purchase of the ticket. |
Call DL and discuss it with them.

Did you have any interactions recently with Delta? Possible that an agent was working on multiple itin's and sent an update to the wrong passenger? Or maybe the pax was attempting to share the itin with someone and fat-fingered an email address?
|
I would typically call, except the itin isn't necessarily impacting -me- and I didn't want to be clogging up their phones. But I can do that later today since it seems this may be an isolated incident.
I DM'd DL on Twitter over the weekend in an attempt to get a non-urgent flight change done (it didn't get done) - would've been the only recently interaction I've had with a DL agent. My email is comprised of my full name - and there is no overlap whatsoever with the pax name. Below is a screenshot of the message, illustrating that it appears to be an automated email and it is unlikely that it was the pax that fat fingered anything: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4c86b5dd11.png |
