Blanket Theft -- Would You Say Anything?
 

Just when you think you've seen it all, something else happens.

I'm minding my own business in seat 4A on last night's SMF-ATL flight (a 739) during boarding. At the time, seat 4B is unoccupied with a pillow and blanket on the seat. A middle aged male boards and is heading for coach. As he passed by row 4, he reaches down and snatches the blanket on 4B and carries it off with him.

Should I have said anything?

IMO yes, but I try to close FC overhead bins in order to save space for late boarding seatmates.

As a thought experiment, would you have said something if he had taken several water bottles sitting at unoccupied FC seats?

This remind me trouble I have using a Delta one blanket when in intl coach or domestic flight.
I must each time prove to purser I have receive it as gift from a previous flight.

How do you "prove" this?

If he only took the blanket, I wouldn’t have worried about it as there are almost always extra blankets onboard. If he took the pillow as well, I’d say something as I’ve been told by FA’s in the past that the pillows are only for F on domestic flights and they don’t cater any extras other than the standard F allotment.

IME FC blankets are usually folded and sealed in plastic (maybe to signal that they've been cleaned) while the extras in bins aren't. Also, on long/winter/night flights, the extra blankets tend to be claimed very quickly.

I’ve seen both before. Most of the times, the extras in the bins are sealed and the non-sealed ones are dirty from the previous flight that the cleaning crew just threw up into the bins.

Awesome card, but man, even stingy AA threw my brother 25k miles for assisting in a medical emergency. And they couldn't even get your title right? I'm sure you don't mind or care, but I care for you lol.

I must precise, the person who I "help" is a pilot (in uniform, but off duty) on the return (from PVG to LAX). I receive 150$ from the purser, and after arriving home , I receive a email for an additional 200$ (I call my "contact" at Delta to see if is not a mistake,she told me the second one it is from the HR because it is a pilot).

HUH? If you mean that the title should have been Dr., note that medical professionals other than MDs/ODs/DDs/etc. (and PhDs in psych) can be very useful in medical emergencies. Indeed, in many cases, an EMT, military medic, or experienced tertiary trauma center ER nurse (BS or MS level) is likely to be more immediately helpful in saving the person's life than some specialist physician such as a psychiatrist, dermatologist, cosmetic surgeon, neonatal specialist, or eye surgeon.

Ah, ok. I thought you just got the blanket. That's a pretty good thank you. My brother helped a passenger having a stroke on AA.
