DL First Class to PUJ

Does Delta First Class get you any expedite treatment at PUJ upon arrival? (Punta Cana). I have seen this in certain international locations that you will get a card or follow a different line. It also seems that the airport itself is offering an "VIP assistance" for a price that supposedly expedites the process.

Anyone have PUJ arrivals experience?

It's been a couple of years since I flew DL to PUJ, but when I went the answer was no. There was no expedited entry for passengers in first.

I've flown there a number of times. The airport is privately owned. If you stay at a property like Tortuga Bay which is owned by the same consurtium then you automatically receive the VIP arrival assistance. You can also pay for it separately. It has nothing to do with the airline or your class of service - it's just a revenue generator for the airport itself.

There is a "first class" line for luggage check which is DRAMATICALLY faster.

I paid for the VIP service on my last visit. Basic review

On arrival, they meet you at the jetway and walk you through the process. You still have to wait on luggage, but once you get that you just cruise through the airport with your escort and out to your ride. Was it worth it???? Well, maybe. Lines really were not that long so I probably saved 10- 20 minutes. (NOTE: This was a 4 night stay solo stay or I probably would have skipped it)

On return they supposedly take you again to the front of the line to check bags, but when I got there I was early and there was NO line at the SkyPriority so I just checked in before I went into the "meet your escort" room. She then fills out the papework and escorts you through the line. However, since they have installed new automatic scanning gates for passport control I basically saved NO time. The escort then takes you to the lounge. The service was $125 a person. You can buy lounge access for $50. Next time I just buy lounge access.

I flew FC Delta last year. No expedited treatment through customs. As a note we waited 1.5 hrs around 1pm so timing is everything YMMV. Previously we flew United into the other terminal and never waited more than 20 mins.

I can confirm no special treatment at PUJ / SDQ. If you arrive during the TATL rush at PUJ, you might be stuck for 2 hours in the immigration line, same for late afternoon departures from PUJ or if departing on the 6 AM SDQ-JFK flight. VIP service is very useful around these times.

There are plans to open a pre-clearance facility (which has been already built and has been pending DR congress approval for a few years now), once this is open, it will become a nightmare and the VIP service will be even more worth.

Just flew there and back this week. No special treatment upon arrival for DL first class. However, line at immigration was only about two minutes (early flight from ATL).
On the way back, Sky Priority had no line. As mentioned, there is an automated scanner at passport control; there were just a couple of people in front of me, so it was very fast to get through.
