Lax-Ams 767
 

Was very surprised when I just booked a trip in early September to see it being operated by a 763. Seems that’s almost just about pushing the range especially westbound
From memory it’s always been A330

Hmm definitely interesting. Delta states the 763 ER's range is 6,221 miles. LAX-AMS is 5,578 miles so I guess they have the range.

Was surprised to see PDX-LHR on the 767 as well.

AMS-LAX is shorter than other routes DL has operated the 767-300ERs on. I took a 767-300ER on SEA-PVG, which was about 150 miles longer and on that flight, we flew at least 6,000 miles because we flew over Beijing and then turned southeast towards Shanghai.

Back when DL operated LAX-LHR on DL metal (~2015), I believe it was on a 763.

Actually, I thought it started out last year on the A333 but they ended up cancelling it before bringing it back on the 763 on a seasonal basis.

I have one of these booked also. Not happy about the 763.

I was hoping that with the extra planes from Asia cancelations that this might get upgraded, but nothing so far.

Could the 330s be going in for new seats (i.e. PS)? Or maybe KLM is running enough capacity that DL doesn't need a 330.

KLM has run 747 Kombi and 787 on this (and sometimes a 777, IIRC). The Queen is retiring (abdicating? :) ) soon but check what is running in the Fall. I managed a couple of upgrades to WBC on the 787 and liked it quite a bit.

And yes, the LAX-LHR was a 767 -- used one of my first GUCs on it when it first ran...

Now a 777!
 

I got very lucky , schedule change came over with it now being a 777 with suites 😁

Yup - seeing the same for mine (end of summer). Not bad!
