Personal item dimension limit?

Does Delta have any limit for personal item?

I have a laptop bag with wheels - it measures:
14 x16 x9 = 39"

Will they accept as a personal item - there is nothing on their web site though?

The personal item needs to be able to fit under your seat. That space can change depending on the aircraft type but if you bring something that can’t go under the seat in front of you you risk being asked to check the bag.

A bag with wheels is known as your carry on rather than your personal item.

Per Delta's website:

Approved Personal Items

  • 1 purse, briefcase, camera bag or diaper bag
  • or 1 laptop computer (computers cannot be checked)
  • or 1 item of a similar or smaller size to those listed above

I get the sense a "personal item" is defined as something easily carried tucked under one's arm. They probably leave specific measurements out of it, as there's a difference between a small duffel with hardly anything in it, versus the same bag jam-packed with things that can't compress.

There are wheeled bags that fit under a standard seat.
