How is 5C on a 739 a Comfort+ Seat?

Scenario: I flew TPA>ATL>SJC on a Q (fairly high bucket) fare. I had some expiring RUC's so I waitlisted ATL>SJC several weeks ago. I noticed a few days ago that it dropped off (Upgrade Waitlisted went away from itinerary screen) so I called to add it back. I was told it was added back but didn't see it. I then called back and was told the person who re-added it must have been new because they didn't do it properly and she fixed it. It did now show as upgrade waitlisted on the itinerary.

At T-1 hour, I was 2 of 65 for 2. The upgrades cleared and I was 1 of 65 for 0. Someone who wasn't even on the top 10 of the list for first was upgraded to 05C but it showed up in the app as a Comfort+ upgrade. He was in front of me (I boarded last) and was surprised when he got to his seat.

It appears that the first person on the Comfort+ upgrade list (but not in top 10 of first) got an upgrade to first. How does this happen? Was it that my messed up waitlisted cert upgrade corrupted the process or does the system somehow think 5C on a 739 is a Comfort+ seat?

After the flight, I was off the upgrade list altogether, but it was otherwise intact. Did I get screwed on a RUC or am I missing something? Not a big deal but Y on a 739 isn't a treat.
