DL adding new routes out of ATL

New ATL nonstops to BOI and GEG loaded over the weekend. BOI with a overnight turn on a 320. GEG is a redeye return on a 738. Both flights are loaded through November, which would indicate not just summer-only adds.

DL did operated ATL-BOI several years ago and ran a Saturday-only ATL-GEG on a 319 about 7 years ago.

I think there's a reasoning for these adds - to build up presence in those markets to boost their position in SEA - this allows DL to position themselves better to serve people in these markets for those who want to travel to the South/Southeast, something that people have to travel west for on AS.

DL recently bumped the frequency up from 5 to 7 on SEA-BOI and runs 7-8 on SEA-GEG (0-2 of which are on mainline depending on the season)

Boise is also a place that is growing very rapidly.

Can confirm the GEG add is year-round. Assume same with BOI.

GEG is also growing rapidly, albeit not at the same frantic pace as BOI.

Great news for those of us in Boise. Timing out of Boise looks good with an early afternoon departure, but flight from ATL leaves at 9:40am which isn’t great for connections.

DL is also resuming SLC-MEM, which was cut shortly after MEM was dehubbed.

You can pretty much come from anywhere in east coast to catch the 9:40am flight out of ATL.

True, most east coast routes will work. I was thinking of European connections. But I’m happy either way.

just a nit, but SLC was one of the last routes cut out of MEM, possibly THE last, and it lasted until 2015.

For some reason, DL seems to want to funnel West Coast Euro traffic via AMS/CDG.

ATL under enough pressure already.

It's actually quite nice to have to clear customs at your home airport. US is a terrible place to transit. You don't have to recheck your bags and go through security again.

Some tight connections, but even works for some of those just across the Central Time Zone 'east coast' areas, particularly in the south.

9- to 10-hour overnights from the west coast are also a lot better than 6- to 7-hour flights from ATL/JFK

Delta is increasing ATL-BZN to daily year-round beginning July 2020.
