HUH? I'm talking about total calls to DL, specifically the DM line, for any reason,

I am talking about that too. I am trying to recall if I have called Delta this year on anything. Looks like I got this current cell phone in May and have no Delta call history. If I call, it is usually IROPS.

I am not saying any of your reasons for calling are bad. I am saying I think Delta thinks you are high maintenance.

Problem is Delta's IT and its training for customer service agents has not kept up with its policies, programs, benefits, etc. I'm really not high maintenance, but it is not unusual for me to call 2-3 times to get a SDC issue resolved. That is a Delta problem with IT and training, not because I am opinion shopping. I know the rules, they don't and they haven't correctly programmed their systems. If you call outside of normal US business hours the knowledge level is sub-par. I try not to argue with the agents or ask for supervisors, since I know they are just going to put a nasty note in the record. If they don't know how to do their job, I sure as hell rate them a 1 (for what that is worth). Its either a 5 or a 1. Same for Uber, lyft, etc.

And it’s impossible you call once every 50 flights. I requalify for DM with that many flights.

How do you figure that it is impossible I call once every 50 flights? You are right, I don't have hard data. What I can say is that I got this phone in May and haven't called Delta since then. And what does requalifying for DM have to do with it?

I am not completely sure that Delta cares how many times you call in (I am sure they track it), but probably more concerned about how many waivers and favors you request and receive or are denied.
Many years ago they had limits on the number of waivers you could obtain in a period. Then they came up with SDC and SDS, which many people take advantage of in the course of their travels. I can
completely see them limiting this in the future, if they feel they are losing revenue. Like so many other things over the years, with less competition, Delta does not have the need to "give things away". If the competition
does it, everyone will follow along. Look at all the other changes one airline or another has done and eventually, everyone else manages to do just about the same.

Currently DL's major USA competitors do offer some version of SDC/SDS, although the rules of each carrier (DL,UA,AA,AS,WN) seem to be somewhat different. If DL were to try to limit or eliminate SDC/SDS, DL would lose a lot of customers, especially business travelers who generally tend to be more profitable, unless other airlines copy the move. OTOH, maybe DL could put SDC/SDS into (some of) its corporate contracts.
