$500 cards also available for $450, plus you get the 2% costco rebate for purchasing on your costco card.

Not a bad deal, helps get credit card spend as well

I'm just thinking right now. How many method of payments can we use on DL's website? Can I use a GC to pay for most of the airfare and then use a CSR to pay the difference or a tiny amount to get insurance covet? If so, isn't this a close to hot deal?

Going to max out the offer - 3- $1k cards

10% off the top, 2% back on Costco visa - sweet!

The question is does it qualify for the additional 3% travel related rebate for Costco executive membership ? We shall see.

Yes, you can do that. DL does limit the number of GCs per transaction to 3 though.

Only online; phone or airport agents can use more though experiences vary: Is it possible to use more than 3 gift cards in one booking?

I forgot to mention that I also have Costco Executive. I guess this is now a no-brainer.

I doubt it counts as a "travel" purchase since they come from Costco.com not CostcoTravel.com, but I don't see any exclusion of gift cards in the T&C for regular executive earning.

$68 off of a $500 gift card!

I guess the reason question is why wouldn’t anyone pounce on this deal?

Many years ago Costco was selling AA GCs at 10% off, a super deal for me when I flew AA.
A 10% discount is nice.^

The reason I haven't hit buy now is:
1. Opportunity cost of fronting the money without a specific trip planned
2. Not being able to use the Amex IAP
3. Not having trip insurance from a credit card provider (they usually say "entire trip" or verbage about taxes and fees on awards)

Does the part of the balance paid using a GC earn MQD? Does the gift card paid portion earn skymiles? (5/7/9 miles/$ etc)

I ended up purchasing $3,000 worth before they might sell out. It seems like a great deal for 10% off rates and they never expire (plus 2% Costco, plus chase visa points).

Amex trip insurance probably won't cover it even if a portion is paid via Amex.
