So you have one data point? I don't claim an expert understanding of economics but pretty sure the phrases "commands a price premium" and "hurting their bottom line" are contradictory.

They 'commanded' but I didn't obey. No economist here. More like a consumerist.

Now that I've sunk a few thou into gift certs I'm more likely to book Delta even if their prices are higher.

Do these expire?

PS: CSR = Chase Sapphire Reserve?

I keep thinking Customer Service Rep, but obv that doesn't make sense in this context.

Edit: Looks like maybe this sale is over. Getting 404 errors on the linked pages

Too bad Chase Freedom didn't have warehouse clubs as a 5 percent bonus category this quarter like they did the past few years. That would have been a great deal for people with a CSR card and a costco exec membership. 10% savings, plus 2 percent back on the costco exec membership and then 7.5 percent back from chase if you transferred the points from the chase freedom to the CSR and used it for travel.

I wish the gift cards could be used for FCM upgrades and to pay the $100 LHR luxury tax.

In case they come back again (the $1k sold out and returned once already), they do not expire.

I think I understand where my disconnect is now. See, the thing is that "commands a premium" has a specific meaning that I think may be different than the one you intended.

Seems sold out online. I just went to local Costco and purchased 3x$500 physical gift cards.

Thanks for in-store heads up... Picked one up using Chase Freedom 5% back (Chase Pay > Samsung Pay). Might go back for more using USB Altitude (3% mobile wallet)
