If it's an iPad, have you checked the "Find My ..." app? If it has connected to a cellular carrier (if it has cellular) or WiFi it should give you a location. Presume that the headphones are with the iPad.
At least you will know if the thing was stolen.
At a minimum, I would remotely wipe the device of any data. That can be a lot more troublesome than the electronics themselves.
