Have the Gates at SFO T1 Been Renumbered?

Hi All--it shows my wife's flight going into C2--not the usual 40, 41, 42, etc.

Yes -- all gates at SFO were very recently renumbered. The net is they went from numeric to alphanumeric numbering which should help with the inevitable confusion that comes from not specifying the boarding area with the gate number. Detailed thread on the UA forum (even though it applies beyond just UA) has additional information:

Happened last week: https://thepointsguy.com/news/sfo-gate-renumbering/ - I flew out of SFO on the 17th and it caught me off guard, but everything seemed to work smoothly (the app, the SC agents, etc).

The SFO web site has a good map showing the new (and old) numbers:

Yeah I flew into SFO on the 17th and out on the 18th and if I hadn't read about it when perusing the airport site a few days before, I'd've had no idea there was a change.
