DL 764 (New Layout 2) Premium Select vs VS A350 Premium JFK-LHR 2020
Flying over to London for a weekend in March. The 2 look very compatible now but is there a clear winner? DL maybe be better option for the night flight as the seat may have a legrest although I'm not sure there is a way to confirm this being 6 months out. VS could have an edge with a the newest equipment. Anyone have any thoughts as to the best choice?

I’ve flown a few (~10) flights in VS PE over the past few years, most recently about 10 days ago. There has always been a foot rest with the PS seats on the flights I’ve flown. I flew a round trip MSP-HND in DL PS last December but do not recall which AC it was; there also was a footrest in DL PS. The VS seats are wider, which makes them a bit more comfortable, in my opinion.

Also, VS seriously reduced the width of the new PE seats. This used to be where they really stood out with an exceptional product, with 21" of width like a domestic F seat. They are now down to 18.5" which is the same as Delta. I think in this case, DL seats will be more comfortable because of the leg rest on all seats. Also, DL serves meals from the business class menu while VS has dedicated (lower quality) meals for PE.
I think VS still wins on quiet cabin, as they have curtains between PE and economy, and dedicated lavs.

I wonder why DL doesn't give PS customers a choice from the full range of unclaimed D1 meals so that if fish or beef is left, some customer in D1 could claim it. Or do FAs allow this in practice, perhaps if one asks nicely?

It's not a refurbish, it is on their brand new A350, though I would expect them to head this direction in the future. The cabin is 2-4-2 just like Delta's A350.
Actually, just checked, and Delta's 767 PE is 19", so it's actually slightly wider than VS.
I think DL wins in this scenario. I would put the VS 787 PE ahead of any DL PE product in terms of seat comfort, unless the leg rest is important. I like having personal space more.
