Maximum mileage earn

So as we know, there is a mileage earning cap of 75k per ticket. Is DL going to increase this or are we going to continue to get shortchanged on earning when flying on expensive intl routes? TATL flights are frequently crazy price, so very easy to hit this cap. Seems like a casino... rigged in the house's favor. You spend the money but don't get the miles, then when you want to go use the miles they want a ton.

On some trips you can get around the cap by doing separate (for example, two OWs instead of a RT) tickets, but for most international itineraries this would increase the total price substantially.

don't see this changing anytime soon, but a 100k cap would seem to make more sense for us consumers (even then there would be miles left on the table)

It sucks, but if people keep buying such tickets then my money's on (b).

Wouldn’t have thought this was a thing. Curious, what does an itinerary look like with this cap?

Not too hard to do if you are buying last minute D1 flights. Diamonds receive 11 miles / $ MQD. At 75k cap on RDM a $6.8k flight is all you need.

I've looked at the two one way thing, but as MSP mentioned that often makes international trips significantly more expensive.

Its quite easy to hit the cap for trans-atlantic flights. Not as much for tpac unless its last minute. When the 75k cap was started a few years ago it was difficult to hit... now it is much easier. About time they raise it to 100k or eliminate it. If we're spending the money, why do they limit the miles?

From MSP, RT TATL or TPAC fares are generally over $6500-7000 unless you can get a Z or I fare class.

The reason they set the cap and have no incentive to raise it any time soon is because you are spending other people's money (OPM) and not your own. You already have incentive to book the most convienent schedule, preferred product, etc with your very large travel budget...and clearly that is on DL. The 75k for you is just the cream on top. If there was a better place/product to take your travel budget....you would have already gone to that airline.
