Based on the press release, the new service is for flights 6.5 hours or longer, so I believe this eliminates trans-cons. Also, I just don't see DL eliminating the second meal service. I remember when UA tried to eliminate their mid-flight meal when they introduced their "improved" main dinner service. It went over so well that they brought the mid-flight meal back.

I always thought that superior financial performance - even with low-margin if not loss-making coastal ops - was a product of having some powerhouse fortress hubs (ATL/DTW/MSP) and lucrative Amex cards
