Is it just me or does the infographic make it seem as if they are dropping the second meal service and replacing it with chocolates?

Awesome, I am sure that folks will love going 12-13 hours with only chocolates to eat after dinner.

In all seriousness though I can't imagine they're dropping it, it would be totally counter to how they're marketing this. Hopefully just an oversight in the graphic?

I did a long haul in Y last month and they came around with a basket of chocolates after breakfast. guess they were testing this concept?

Based on the press release, the new service is for flights 6.5 hours or longer, so I believe this eliminates trans-cons. Also, I just don't see DL eliminating the second meal service. I remember when UA tried to eliminate their mid-flight meal when they introduced their "improved" main dinner service. It went over so well that they brought the mid-flight meal back.

There's been ongoing discussion tacked on to an existing thread:

Delta promises upgrades to long-haul economy

Splitting it out might not be a bad idea though.

Just saw that. Mods feel free to decide. I think this is a big enough change for its own conversation.

I always thought that superior financial performance - even with low-margin if not loss-making coastal ops - was a product of having some powerhouse fortress hubs (ATL/DTW/MSP) and lucrative Amex cards

all of it helps, but Delta systemwide has a revenue premium over AA and UA

The only improvement that means anything to me in the main cabin would be one in which adequate legroom was available. That's all I want.

From the article it seems this is a great move on Delta's part to bring more attention to the main cabin. A little bit can go a long way. Great move IMO

Customers can expect to be impressed on board Delta’s international routes*

Yeah, that 1.5 ounce bellini and chocolate square will definitely make me forget about the 30 inches of leg room I have on my next WAS-AMS flight. Right on, Delta.
