i completely agree on stretching the 737. The 737 needs to be replaced, not stretched yet again.

On the 787, it was my understanding that because of its capabilities, its just too expensive an aircraft for shorter routes.

There has been some speculation about an A330 600 or 700 that would be similar in size to the A300. Also discussion about the A330-800 made into a shorter range more efficient version.

The 737 has been eating into Boeing's reputation for the past 15 years.

What aircraft is this thread about?

Iím sure delta examines its options with any new model that comes on the market. Iím not sure they are in an immediate need of a plane this size though.

Am I correct in assuming that Boeing will basically be looking at a more modern version of the Airbus A310 for their 797?

The A310 was 30 years ahead of its time in my opinion...
